Well of course Alchemy is over powered, but this game isn't about balancing is it?
But I never did realize that Snow Golem crystals, which are only droped from 1k+ shadow missions can easily be obtained by a lv. 350 person with no access to hard mode missions at all.
Anyway I'm done arguing about ALCHEMY, since my original problem was with RANGED.

Just bring a few upgraded pickaxes with you, and spam the Cullin Stones. Worse case you buy a few.

No really, anybody who does NOT think golems need to be seriously, mercilessly nerfed are either too busy abusing them to care about balance, or don't know what the **** balance means.
More to the point, Alchemy is a relatively broken skillset that is only limited by the lack of people willing to do the training reqs (which while hard, don't really compare to life skills, or even WM training reqs - if you can get R1 WM, you can get a decent rank AM, and R1 Golem).
Golem Crystals are piss easy to make/get, you only need 300 AP to max them out (let's compare to Blaze's 600 AP while needing a ****load of INT), etc. And even if you take buying them into account (pffthaha), let's not forget that mages need to buy 3-4 100 MP stacks (or 60-100k) per dungeon, or spend time rafting for or farming herbs. Meanwhile, you get to use a shield, you get to deal endgame WM damage while not putting yourself at risk (and if you have trouble protecting yourself, you have barrier spikes), and you can summon
The point is not to say that magic isn't strong, the point is that a level 350 player can be more effective than a level 3.5k player because of this skill.
Golem's damage needs to be halved at minimum, or the AP costs need to be significantly heightened. Or a large cooldown (maybe one golem per Erinn day?) could suffice.
As it stands, Alchemy is broken in general, and with masteries effectively neutering the only real difficulty in it (training reqs), AND making their skills stronger, it becomes exponentially more broken.
haha that poor lvl 3.5k being out classed by a noob:lol:

Small things I want:
1)Alchemy shops in towns other then tail and tara
2)Mana 10/30's sold at healer's shops
3)Make premium service like it used to be, and not this crap
4)Events that actually use combat with rewards
5)Removing MP evaporation. It causes me to rage alot >.>
6)Make evasion not suck
7)Do somthing to make ranged less godly in pvp, charge doesn't cut it.
8) and for gods sake, make tara smaller. Its like lag central for the entire game

So I sometimes go on missions with a guildy of mine, loverofnao. He has end-game melee. He also, just like anyone else complaining about summon golem could do, got rk1 golem and rk1 alchemy mastery. When going through some of the rougher tara castle shadow missions hunting for this or that page or item together, sure he'll pull out some golems now and then. But he's often a lot faster just doing WM/smash himself.
Things like cerberus make all kinds of problems trying to control a golem. fast sulfur spiders and explosions will break your concentration all the time too. mage and archer fomors also love to disrupt you. And every time you're disrupted, your golem unloads whatever skill you had loaded or partially loaded... forcing you to start completely over loading after switching back.
As said before, golems are not really ideal in every situation. A melee player can rely on his/her skills in far more places (hs3 is really rare). Damage output is not the only factor, as any top-end melee player and/or any golem user can tell you. Damage is important to newbies trying to get a handle on things, but end-game is about far more than damage.
I'm also reminded of some arguments back in c1 about windmill. Even to this day, everyone says you should get windmill, even though it is clearly a melee skill, for every build. Be it range, mage, or melee (or alchemist even these days). I've often thought windmill should be nerfed, if it is so good that absolutely everyone should have it. But the reason it is not actually overpowered... is that anyone can have it. If you think golem is powerful... then rank it up yourself. Sticking to one skillset or another is a choice made by you, the player, not by the game. Skills are never going to be equall in power or usefulness. Get over it.

Everybody should fight with sticks and stones.
That'll solve all of Mabinogi's problems.

Then obviously Mabinogi is imbalanced.
See what I demonstrated there? ;D

I never had that problem, all my equipment is cheap. I wear what I like, not because its rare.
Alch suit
Belt Buckle Boots
Stiff Water Drop Water Cylinder
Goggle cap
All cheap and easy to replace.
Though I've never really delt with massive dura loss, just use holy water and repair at the highest % avaible.
and I think the "Lucky guy/girl" effects repair rates, since the NPCs mention it after repairing.
how's a goggle cap easy to replace? o_O is there some type of easy mission i can do for one of those things? (wants to enchant it completely green)

You people looking for balance do realize that real life isn't balanced right? Why expect it from a fantasy life? Just have fun with whatever you do, the only people who are really whining are you guys who are trying to be the best in the game.
Anyway, I thought of a new thing during all my thoughts on whether to become DK or not. I'd want being DK or Pali to mean more, and by that I mean actually affect future generations by your choice of knighthood. So far, other than giving people a different skill set and allowing PVP, the addition of DK didn't change the game at all and I think the stories would benefit from some story lines where your Paladin status has you working with the human governments more and your DK powers have you doing missions for the fomors or doing stuff solo, or doing things that all the humans are like "Oh my god!" but you're just "Someone had to burn down this village". But I mean just do something that shows that Paladins and Dark Knights are different by something other than their looks.
According to the game story the Dark Knights are knights of Macha, and your powers are granted by a Fomorian wizard, so you'd really think that the stories should be written to reflect this at least somewhat. Go ahead and reach the same ends, but have people do different things, kill different enemies in order to reach it. To me it just always seemed weird how in like, G11 and G12, where you work with Morrighan a lot, and she just shows up and is completely cool with the fact that you accepted fomorian powers. Plus, and I don't know this for a fact because I didn't read that closely when I started a friend's G9 on her DK, do the NPC's still call you the Knight of Light even though you're not anymore?
Point being, I think their was a lot of room for development for the people who choose Paladin or Dark Knight, and dev really just kind of said "screw it" to the idea.

1. Agree
2. Agree
3. Meh. They should bring back the old service, without the weekly dye.
4. Events with "good rewards" kill the economy. No thanks.
5. Trinity Staff
6. Evasion does not suck.
7. PVP doesn't matter. This game is balanced with PVE in mind.
8. Mabinogi is an older game. There is no legitimate solution to its latency issues.

I'm not implying to have complete balance (since that's virtually impossible from your implications). I'm implying that the balance right now could be better by fixes that could be
easily implemented and tested by devCAT.
Also, one of this thread's main suggestions is balance.

Honestly, I didn't mean to sound like I was whining, nor do I want to be the best in the game. Mainly, I was trying to list the main reasons why people want the skill nerfed. Like I said, I enjoy it whenever we have a strong golem user in the party, makes my job as a meleer easier. There's no way I could be the best in the game if I wanted to, lots of people have skills, levels, spirit weapons and enchants on me.
Off-topic: I'm a controversial person aren't I?
