r1 Healing and Life Drain are not enough? =<
I demand mages get their own weather-changing skill to compete with Rain Casting! Hailstorm does not count!
I'm all for it. Incorporate it with Mana Crystallization or make it is own category. Imagine... Healing 120 hp every four seconds, however unlike party heal, which can be cast in 2 seconds (while Alchemic Healing takes 4 seconds), and gives defense, Alchemic Party Heal won't give defensive bonus. But imagine raising your arm in the air as blue sparkling light shoots out of the cylinder then explodes above you like fireworks as sparkling blue light falls down all around you with a 1000 range, healing all allies.
Zid, send some owls and spread the word throughout Erinn, urgent Archmage Society meeting. It's time to overthrow the Royal Alchemists once and for all..!!!!
(Was a Royal Alchemist double agent)
Ohoho.
however golems are getting a nerf (harder to make, and no exp from killing with them)
Why do people keep saying that Golems is going to be nerfed? Where is the proof..? From what I know.. they only reduced the size of Golems for G13.. but didn't changed their stats.
Question 7
GA: Golem is the origin for reduced party play enjoyment and conflict among players. Balancing it soon?
J: We looked at the feedback and this is indeed a problem. We are thinking of changing the skill.
M: Since long time ago, we were planning to nerf it, but we felt bad for players who ranked it so we were in direction of reducing number of golem crystals. We are not sure about balancing the skill, but the golem size will definitely go down. [Meaning the nerf will still make the golem's damage pre-g13 but reducing the current g13 size, but the rate of golem crystals will drop, i.e. Golem Crystals won't always drop in Silab Cuilin, it won't be fishable, or enemies won't drop and reducing the number rate of Finest Cuilin Stones. They won't make Finest Cuilin Stones impossible to get since players still need to them to rank Golem Summoning but you will have to mine more.]
I was never concerned about being the fastest but rather getting the job done. We also got flame burst for aoe, magic crystals, golems, heat buster, as well as frozen blast. Cost-wise, we pay less for repairs, unlike wands and we consume stamina, not mana, which is infinitely money saving. If anything sp100 is cheaper than mp100. For those who have the assets, the crystal bags, does its job well. Of course if alchemist run out of crystal it is over, but the same could be said for mages with 0 mp and no mana potions. No self respecting mage or alchemist would go unprepared. Also golems do not get an exp nerf. Alchemy is good when fighting against a single target, you can use mana crystalization and golems to do damage to multiple targets of course, however golems are getting a nerf (harder to make, and no exp from killing with them) and Mana Crystalization's power isn’t that great, even with a tower cylinder using a rank 1 crystal with a Alchemist with rank 1 mana crystalization, the power of the crystal will not be the same as the Magician who cast it.
I consider Mana crystals magic anyways, You need Magic to Make Magic. Alchemists also usually rely on one skill more than others (WaterCannon)
Magicians have more options to them, they can heal, they can attack single targets(Magic Fusionmmm) and multiple targets(Intermediate Magic) for high amounts of Damage. However a mages main goal is to provide aid by attacking many targets, with ice spear, fireball, and thunder.
Consider this, an alchemist and a Magician solo shadow Cast city (hard mode).
The Alchemist kills enemies one by one with watercannon, and the occasional heat buster.
The Magician uses a Pheonix fire wand (speed) and fireballs everything.
Who will finish first?

I am sick of mages trying to say alchemist can't kill as fast as them and belittle alchemist. I try my best to support my mage friends by saying the mage is strong and they will enjoy it, but on the other hand mages try to belittle the alchemist. Can magic freeze enemies while lowering defense? Can magic put up a barrier that can damage the banshee. Or ability to steal life that bypasses prot, def and pd? Can they cast rain to help in production. Or can magic cast a spell that can stun all enemies around you with damage that ignores prot and def while stunning certain heavy stander enemies or summon a creature with good physical damage when magic is not enough.
There's more to alchemist than being the fastest to finish. And quite personally I am tired of mages heralding and celebrating each time an alchemist gets nerfed, yet when mages get nerf, I personally feel bad for them yet glad at end game, they get stronger than what was lost.
No one can really argue that an alchemist can "get the job done." By that same token, a newbie with icebolt rk9+ and absolutely nothing else but some mp pots (and maybe a robe if they are self-conscious about running around in their skivvies) can "get the job done." What jobs and how well (efficiently and quickly) those jobs can be done is a relevant point of discussion, once we accept the job can be successfully completed. Doing it in 5 hours or 5 mins is a pretty important reason that most people don't go around trying to solo advanced or hardmode dungeons and missions with just icebolt.
Of those only magic crystals and golem can really do significant areas, last I checked heat buster is single target, and frozen blast... while area, dosn't kill things alone. Each of those things runs into it's own set of problems... flame burst is a very small area effect, and requires you to be really close to use. Also requires enchants to do substantial damage. Golem can be interrupted by fast things like sulfur spiders or crowds of archer/mage enemies attacking the player instead of the golem. Magic crystals do 0 extra damage on critical hits, and only 80% of the damage of cast magic, and rk1 crystals are not terribly convenient to make except for IS crystals (subject to change with g13's transmutation mastery however).
Biggest selling point of alchemy by far. Very low maintenance costs. No arguments here.
A mage could sit down and wait with meditate running and go make a sandwitch or something, or use tranformation to get some more mana. Doesn't matter how much stamina an alchemist has if they run out of crystals. That said, I agree that no self-respecting member of either would start a mission or dungeon without enough fuel to get to the end.
Funny how rumors like this one refuse to die, huh?
I think very little of certain alchemy skills. But that is because I consider myself a mage, and have spells that duplicate their use in combat, and see no point in me personally ranking them. That said I'm also a Royal Alchemist, which tells you that my ranks of alchemy skills aren't completely ignored either. I don't consider it belittling to discuss the lesser power of certain skills. Flame Burst, Heat Buster, and Water Cannon are outright less powerful than Thunder. That is fitting though, because as you pointed out above, it costs substantially less in fuel costs to use those. One of the side effects of using magic though, through killing faster, is higher income from gold drops and completed missions and things to pay for the higher costs.
The various effects that an alchemist can produce... so can a mage. Or an archer or warrior for that matter. Ranking barrier spikes, frozen blast, life drain, golem, and rain casting are all just as open to a wizard as an alchemist. Alchemy mastery is a source of MP, and worth ranking as a mage too. It sucks to lose all your mana when you take your wand off, but if the situation calls for using a cylinder to get the job done, then so be it. Part of the skill in playing an efficient mage is making use of those times you're empty to take your wand off, then use your mp potions (before or after doing whatever it is you needed to take the wand off for).
What makes someone an alchemist is focusing on just alchemy things. Some skills do the same job as some alchemy skills, but do it better. Namely the job of killing opponents in a timely manner.
When have alchemists been nerfed?
