That's like having a nice dress and then seeing someone you hate wearing that same dress. Would you instantly get rid of the dress?

Yes.
Or I would get rid of their dress.
It would give Sony/Microsoft and PS3/360 fanboys something to make fun of.

Too easily debatable one way or the other. For commercial "artists", yes. I'd agree that the entire point is getting played, getting popular. Another term for that though is "sell-out". Artistic integrity is a huge point for people, especially in this day and age. So no, for a good artist, I'd say that the point of being an artist is self-expression. Which them choosing to play/make music for the horrible franchise that is Twilight could be considered as a form of self-expression. An part of self-expression though is that it's inherently open to interpretation. So in saying that, fans have every right to question, criticise and otherwise comment on their actions in doing so. Associating your image/intellectual property with something can be a risky business. There's more than one facet to consider. Not to be rude, but who cares if someone's music is featured somewhere you don't like?
It's getting played, it's getting popular.
Isn't that the point of being an artist?
These are all derived from what they think though. Not paying attention to what others think essentially means closing off your worldview. It's one thing to take what people insist you should and shouldn't be doing with a grain of salt (or perhaps a salt field). It's completely another to disregard everyone else. We shouldn't pay so much attention to others, what they wear or what they listen to.
Technically in this case it's a smart choice to make what is a wide-demographic product appeal to the demographic being targeted in this case. It's different from having a theme song or something though as this is a direct advertisement with the sole aim in appealing to customers. Though, Microsoft doesn't need Bieber to make people hate on them. And I don't see anyone hating on Microsoft. At least not anyone that matters.
Why?
Because it's not a big deal.
A huge inherent problem here is that you're basically saying "it's only your opinion" and then making counter statements which are also "only your opinion". You can say "it's not a big deal" as much as you want but I'm sure there are people to whom it is a big deal, hence why decisions need to be made. Even debasing someone else's opinion as "it's just your opinion" is based off of your own opinion. I just don't believe there's any good reason to hate on Bieber or any other artist. Sure, you may not like their music, but that's just your opinion, right? One man's trash is another man's treasure. I personally enjoy his music, but I don't jump on the crazy-fangirl-bandwagon. He knows how to sing and the people who work with him know how to drop catchy lyrics and songs.
And yes, there are other artists whose music I may not particularly enjoy, but I probably wouldn't make a fuss over them if their music appeared in the next Batman movie or if they were making a documentary and requested a short Mario clip to be featured in it.
It's not a big deal.
What a good artist is to you may be a crap artist to another. Hating so much on one certain type of music or artist (or even a movie) is silly, IMO. Yes, we know you don't like it and we know you think it's crap, but awesome, can we move on now?
I thought New Moon was better than Twilight and I don't even like the series. Should I be shot? Probably not.
Well nothing really. His music is just bad. But I've been a fan of Mario for like ever, I don't want to see it in some stupid movie, about Bieber especially.
