Haha.. I don't mean to ruin your parade, but humans have never had 'free will'. We're constantly restricted by the law, government, etc.. free will has always been nothing but an illusion.
I don't believe that. We follow those laws of our own free will. We obey the laws and the government of our own free will. Look at rapists, murderers, and the lot. Did they adhere to the laws? No, just like us, they acted of their own free will, but they went against the laws and defied what's seen as socially acceptable/right.

They used free will and were put in jail where they are strictly controlled...Lol

To be fair, they still have the ability to fight back and not adhere to the rules of the jail. We always have free will, but our free will can always be somewhat minimized.

..Yes, that is correct, but the point that I was making was that they still acted of their own free will. The fact that they were punished for their actions doesn't change that.. And if we go off of that logic, then what of the criminals who have escaped or gotten away with their crimes?

Mmm.. my definition of free will is a bit different. Free will is something that is, to me, something you will not be punished for. Although you are acting on your own free will to break those laws.. you are still punished for them. So it kind of destroys the whole meaning behind 'free' will.

Ah, I'm looking at it from a minimalistic view. By that, I mean, viewing 'free will' purely as choices or decisions made.

Ahh.. that's certainly one side of it. I mean the free will granted and/or restricted to you by others, heh. That is the freewill we so often lack.

2) Why do you think the Global Warming is bs (the way the media talks about it, etc)?
Two reasons for me:
1) It's happened countless times in the history of this planet. Yes it leads to climate changes and it might not be too pleasant for us, but the media and government use it as means of marketing themselves as "green".
2) A while ago I read a study that showed the entire solar system is experiencing changes in temperature, not just the earth.
I'm all for clean, cheap (preferably free) and renewable energy for every human on this planet, but I don't want us to get there because of a swarm of politicians claiming to be eco-friendly.

Does anyone in the media not know that the flying flip global warming is?
Global warming causes the polar ice to melt and disperse colder water. That ice-y cold water goes right by the Eastern coast of America and land temperature is highly affected by Ocean temperature. I live an hour away from the Outer Banks and anyone there will tell you it's been the coldest winter this year in over 20 years. Why? Because of all the ice from the ocean.
Going "hur dur global warming at its work" when you're shoveling 8 feet of snow from your driveway makes you look like a total idiot considering that snow extremity came exactly from the ocean.
I'll happily dismiss the media's idea of global warming any day but denying the scientific fact of global warming is pretty stupid.
Honestly, all of the articles Sparta posts are pretty stupid too, imo.

Global Warming?
It's just the sun getting hotter and dieing out. May take a long time to die, but it's a sign that scientists are aware of.

That because people are using global warming as man fault. Saying we did this and we are gonna screw ourselves in the future. Should be more of a weening into renewable energy source. But we shouldn't just cut off our current energy source. On that note people need to focus more on pollution, more so than global warming. Though as mention in one of spartaa post about the infrastructure being fail. This was also predicted. Oh well the price of leadership, if some one screw up, the one in charge is at fault.

Obama doesn't need this article to look bad, he does that perfectly just by himself.
Global warming is a lie true, but don't we already know that? >.>

Global warming
is mans fault, however. Some things such as volcanic eruptions do contribute to the deterioration of the ozone layer, but if humans didn't interfere, it would still be very much in-tact.
Pollution will mean nothing if the world is ruined thanks to radiation, btw. :P

Mankind on their best day couldn't beat nature with global warming. Earth been heating and cooling with out man interference. We just don't know the damage we are doing which is a lot harder to say than we causing global warming. We are contributing to global warming just like every thing else on this planet. So no, it really nothing more than a pointless scare to a real problem.

The fact the state is being forced to black out customers is a bad sign. If there's any truth to the article, which due to its conspiracy theories and apparent bias, I'm not sure I believe, then it's an obvious sign that things should have been handled better with more forethought.
You obviously can't just take over power plants and shut them down and prevent new ones without putting up renewable sources to take their place. If you can't come up with a good way to transition then the change is going to cripple our infrastructure, and that's bad.
I think renewable sources, in the long run, will be better however. We'll be less dependent on other countries. But, electricity isn't all of it. We need a major push with automobiles too. Which, I think there was something passed in that regard with a deadline some time back. So, at least we're getting on the right path. I think companies like Tesla are at least making a good start. Not so much with their sports cars, which was just to get enough funding to make their other cars. But with their lower models that middle class people can afford, because it's those that are going to end up making a difference since they can be done in much higher volume and trends can catch on if they're affordable enough.
