I remember for the longest time, that people have said 1H Ego + 222b broad was the best way to achieve the maximum damage output. Even after 600% smash for 2H was implemented.
Now that my base damage is growing rapidly, I'm starting to question my choice...
With Pot Poison, I have: 156 base max (with all equips/non-weapon enchants)
Maxed out Ego bastard + Shadow Hunter Spike War Sword:
Smash: 5 x (156 + 156 + 90 + 10 + 14) = 2130
WM: 2.5 x (156 + 156 + 90 + 10 + 14) = 1065
Critmill: WM x 1.5 = 1597.5
Maxed out Ego 2H:
Smash: 6 x (212 + 156) = 2208
WM: 2.5 x (212 + 156) = 920
Critmill: WM x 1.5 = 1380
If we speak in terms of HM-only monsters, where Critical is only possible in with WM..
it seems like an ego 2H, with a high enough base damage, will outdo a 1H :/
Even though its WM damage is lower, 2H still has stun advantage... now that I see the gap between Smash damages (and will only increase as one's base dmg. grows) I'm starting to think I've made a poor decision :/
So what was the reason I went with a 1H Ego again?
(btw: it's at 37 str right now x.x)
Because windmill is more important than smash; the damage advantage of a 1H-dual wield exceeds that of a 2h-smash.
You probably smash more than you windmill, but if you're using them equally, the 1H has better damage.
