@xJac
Okay, as a Dark Knight, my DEF transformed is no different than normal. The same holds true for when my shield is broken; it is lessened by the same amount. However, breaking my shield and then transforming restored the lost DEF as I was given a new unbroken shield. Breaking it (while transformed) dropped my DEF back to the lower number. Repairing it with SP: Shield Repair restored that DEF, which was then lost with the transformation as I was given the shield I had when I transformed (which was broken).
So basically, you get a new shield to mess with, based on the type of shield you had (large shield if you had none), and go back to exactly what you had afterward.
Update:
I tried going in without a shield. I started with less DEF even less than with a broken shield. The DEF did not increase when I transformed and was granted a (large?) shield for use, and... there was no icon for the shield condition. As near as I can tell, the shield was unbreakable, as I used Heavy Stander nearly the entire 2 minutes and it did not break. It most certainly protected me from harm during those 2 minutes.
Next test: Without any shield or weapon
I wonder if I can even gather a full SP bar...

If you drink it in the boat, your SP goes back down once you actually start. o;

And use trans on the boat. > >

LOL
If you use trans on the boat (and don't swap something on the equipped side of the inventory dialog), you won't be able to transform in the stage. Of course, you won't show up transformed either.
Besides... I accidentally drank my last SP potion recently. :fail:

So, for pallies, the grasp skill only activates some of the time? like randomly?

It's weird, at lower dungeon I can shoot missiles all of the time, but not on the higher level dungeon.
So I say it's depending on chance.

Do you know if transformation gives you any speed or anything of that sort? I find that you can heavy stander again VERY fast after you block a smash. You can do that too w/o trans but it seems slower so I'm not sure if it's just my imagination or what.

You are given a speed boost and a weapon length boost, but the exact timing is currently unknown.
(Especially since both the speed and timing are revamped in EP9/EP8.3?)

A little off topic, but SP pots very rarely drop from gauntlet sacks.

Trans does not grant you attack speed bonus, tested with recording and going by frame by frame. THERE IS NO ATTACK SPEED BONUS FROM TRANS.
