The speed that I read a book really depends on how much I enjoy the book, or if I'm just required to read it. I think the quickest I have done was read around 300~ pages in 2~ hours Dx

I disagree. Just like you're innocent until proven guilty, one deserves to be respected until a reason is found not to.
One should always be kind when meeting strangers. Not rude.
One should always believe what other people have to tell you. Not skeptical 24/7.
Unless I know that what you're saying is completely wrong, why shouldn't I believe you? I know nothing about Biology, so I shouldn't believe what a Biology professor tells me about evolution? And if I don't agree, I should call him an idiot and say the worst things about him, like Sin did?
No. It's called respect. It is something everything deserves. Respect is only earned after you lose it.
I believe you though. :) And I'm sorry he said those things. He's usually nice, however. (Or so I've seen.)
Maybe he's just having a horrible day.
Nice ad hominem there.
>who's trying to act hard
Yep, because I'm the guy here claiming he can finish a 700 page book in 3 hours, right? Although that's irrelevant now because you admitted yourself you thought most pages in most chapters were useless enough to skip.
U mad, bro?
I would never want your respect. You are worth less than a dime.
Although, I do agree that respect has to be earned and not just given for no reason like Phunkie is implying. Just the same as trust has to be earned. Although I believe in the best of people, you should always expect the worst.
I respect you, however. I haven't called you silly names and I haven't started attacking yet, 'cause I honestly do not know you. Berating a stranger is never classy.
I reported you though. :hi:
ANYWAY. I don't read as often I would like to. Any good books, guys?
Takes me a year to finish the first harry potter book. Yay for movies.
Well, I do read for enjoyment, though I don't read as much as I used to because of working etc. :what:
I read all of the Redwall books in the time of a few months, and knowing that he makes 1 once a year I'm waiting for more (though I haven't read the most recent one)
If a book has ALOT of text just describing things I might just pick up another book and try to continue later, such as I tried starting the unabridged Hunchback of Notre Dame but up until page 50 or so :died:
Now I'm reading Brave Story (which is about 817 pages), I've had it for a few weeks because I haven't been reading it often, if it was back then I would have finished it in a week @_@
It would take me a week to read 700 pages x_x
I personally don't read books at all.. I find them boring.
The only book that I actually enjoyed was The Outsiders and Rumble Fish >w>
All the other ones just bore me to death

Thats faster than most people lol.
I always went as quickly as I could through books in school, as I just don't find the required material interesting. In high school though, my teacher gave us a choice in what we read, and would make exceptions for certain material.
As a filmmaker, books bore me. Someone make a thread about movies.
"How fast can you watch a movie" and Forsaken talks about how he can fast-forward through the un-important parts.
aka books n skewl r stoopid
My teachers give us no choice. They just throw the most boring books at us and just expect us to read them, comprehend every aspect of them, then discuss on command D: If my teachers actually allowed us some sort of choice, I would probably enjoy English class and actually fit in with the other Honors kids ;~;
I actually got sent to a 'special' class in 4th grade for slow reading. The thing is, I read slow, but I understand the things I read very clearly. Geez, nothing wrong with a bit of scanning @_@
I've used the insult before, and so has most of the internet. The reason for that is simple: You're a cliche, which is very pathetic.
As another person in this topic has said, the author is extremely slow, and he seems to think he is paid by the word. If you have ever read 'Tale of Two Cities', you'd realize that speed reading and skipping segments is EXACTLY how to get the material at hand.
Honestly, you would never have my respect, nor do I care if you want it or not. A nobody like you really means nothing to anyone else but yourself, and the people close to you. You also do not know me, nor would I care to let you know me, because well... You're honestly very droll.
Indifference tends to be the best approach: Be skeptical, but keep your mouth shut until its been proven otherwise. Your first post was proven wrong, and posts afterwards support my replies, yet you still go on. This means you're trying to mend your wounded pride, or some other useless measure.
I believe in the worst, and allow people to change that opinion. It tends to be much more expediant, as people suck.
I thought Arsik told us to drop the petty debate? I guess you're just an autistic retard who has a heart full of DARKNESS like there are so many to deal with.
If you really think and want to act like you are important and that your opinion matters, do so off my board. I do not entertain your existence more than the deletion button you ****ing idiot. MrShandavio, like myself, also completely explained to you why you do not read that fast and you just pulled the troll card again. How predictable.
Grow up, kid. You are also not a speshul snowflake like you seem to think.
He said to stay on topic, which I was (Author suggestions to someone).
OT: Re-reading the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice... I forgot how utterly boring 'The Vampire Lestat' can be in parts.
I'm probably worse than Sin, I just don't care to waste my time arguing stupid things. I made the thread because I was curious whether or not there were other people who read fast, and to see if there were actually people who enjoyed reading (Which is rare).
