Either way the ability 'like' or '+1' comments isn't going to happen.

Who said it's going to happen? Does that change the subject of this thread? I think you haven't read my first post. Use logic.

If you use logic and look back to the first page, you will see that I have replied to your first post.

There's a mod for vBulletin for the Thank post button, which is exactly what you're wanting. It's just unneeded on this forum though, since it's not like people post anything useful.. (Except guides, or someone with a useful answer to a question, that's the only place).

Apples and oranges. Fruits is the internet.
I think Forums and Facebook(Twitter etc)
are more like Oranges, and GrapeFruits
though I don't get why people have to comment so negatively in this topic
like buttons are simple- giving rep or posting on their profiles- take more steps than just simply liking a post
we have profiles- just like "social networks"
we have "topics" which are basically how Facebook's status updates work
we have posts which are how Facebook's "comments" work
we have "avatars and profile pics"
I think you get the idea- there's not that much of a difference

Mabination is a social network. The website is primarily a forum, not a blog. GameFAQs is a forum. Facebook (etc) are blogs. The user page of Mabination is a sort of blog.
I dislike the like feature. People end up posting simply to gain the satisfaction of a +1.
See Also: YouTube and the sort of people who lurk it.

This was a stupid idea in the first place.
We already have rep.
We don't need any other way for people to feel "special" if rep does exactly what liking would do.

rep does not do EXACTLY what "like" would do
you can like someone's post to show everyone that you like it without needing to post (though posting is still an option)
if people make posts for likes- what's keeping them from doing it for the +rep?
though I don't really see Facebook as a Blog really- Twitter maybe or Tumblr

If you rep something, it's essentially you liking it.

No, because people don't see who repped which post.

Why would you want to see how many people liked somebodies post in the first place?

Same reason there's a like button on facebook.

This isn't facebook, though.

It seems to me that a lot of people here dislike Facebook to the extent that calling this forum a social network freaks them out. They also have the wrong idea of what a like button does.
See the following, a lot of bias here:

I support this idea, but I want "sage" post functions.
