This isn't facebook, though.
Yes, and?

I support it.
Who cares if it's like Facebook ("Like"), Twitter ("Favorite") or Google+ ("+1")?
This is a social network, a forum, a community, call it what you wish.
And it'd be nice to see posts getting favorited or liked by people.

I like 'upvote' and 'like' features in posts and threads because it brings to light people's preferences. They're either: clever posts, informational posts, insightful posts.. or just the popular opinion (and not necessarily the best choice, but w/e) you get the idea. It differentiates neutral posts from helpful posts to those that people find more powerful and have a stronger sense of reason than others. There are often multiple replies to a thread, and if it is a thread asking for advice, people will look to the post with the highest positive response to follow-through with the strongest.
There is no such thing at the present time, and repping is an incognito way to express your support for someone or their post. It can be expanded on, but what I describe is just the positive aspect. It's not fair to compare this to other communities, because the composition of people is completely different, among many other reasons.
I've sort of reccommended something like this before, and got the same canned responses. It's good to discuss, though.
