Should gun laws be very strict that make it extremely hard to get your hands on a gun or do you believe every citizen should be allowed to own a gun once they reach a certain age and fill in the papers?

Should have added a poll, and I think it should be extremely hard to get a gun, who knows how crazy people are these days.

"I posses the right to keep and bear arms." Hmmmm
Where have I heard that before?
Obviously felons are not allowed fire arms, which is a good thing. There are MUCH easier ways to kill someone than with a gun. Guns are an necessary self defense weapon, "Weapons were meant to save lives not take them." and though you can argue all day about how people having guns is bad blah blah blah. You often forget the true logistics of owning a firearm.
Simply that, having a gun in the home is for home defense. Having a pistol that REQUIRES A LICENSE AND NO PREVIOUS MISDEMEANORS OR FELONIES to have is self defense. Anything beyond that is cause for concern. And a smart gun owner will keep his guns locked up in a safe that only he knows the combination to and out of reach of anyone else. Cracking down on guns will also only have more people killed. Law abiding citizens will not have self defense weapons, and murderers will get their hands on guns illegally and believe me that is not anywhere near of a stretch as you think it is. Lastly guns do not kill people as much as the media would have you believe, if anyone is to blame for gang shootouts (which is really the only way people get killed with guns except a few special cases) it is law enforcement. Law enforcement really needs to be stepped up in our country.

This please.
It should not be hard IMO, what if you just want to go Hunting on your own property? Or at a range or something?
Though The Loli believes Security in America is faulted so badly it doesn't exist anymore.

If you ban guns in one state, people can still bring (illegally) guns from another state. There would have to be a thorough nationwide ban of guns to really cut down gun violence. In places that have such bans, gun crimes are lower but knife crimes are higher. Since guns won't be leaving America for a long time, homeowners should be able to have their own gun for personal protection if they want one.

This, and in you didn't see this in my edit, I want to point this out again.

pretty neutral on this topic (and most topics)
but the cat has heard from the "personal protection" side of the argument
the gun just ends up not being used, or just used for personal entertainment (bring to a shooting range)
or really bad accidents. (still owner's fault though)

Knives require skill to actually kill someone while guns don't. Plus, most violent crimes are committed outside of the house.

oh yeah
gun possession is great for a zombie apocalypse
especially in America where people would raid your house just because

You shouldn't even have a gun out whenever you're outside of the house. It's against the law unless someone is threatening you. Also I'm fairly certain this statement is false because abuse is one of the top crimes and it happens almost exclusively at home. As far as gun crimes though, guns are loud, when a gun is shot people tend to panic, people just aren't shot outside. The only real place a gunshot can be muffled is inside a building. And even then it is always breaking in and murdering, self defense of a victim, or premeditated murder.

Dunno how I feel on this, mostly neutral on the matter.
I'd definitely be cool with everybody being allowed to carry a gun around, as long as felons/ex-felons/people who are certified as psychiatrically unstable as far as depression [possibly wanting to commit suicide, etc.] wouldn't be allowed to.
Though, irregardless, people who legally aren't allowed to carry arms get guns illegally and that'll always continue.
Ionno, my dad always has a gun on him when he leaves the house, a shotgun in a drawer, and a safe full of guns, and he [as a firearms instructor] gives us safety courses on how to handle guns. IMO, every person should at least take safety classes, and whether they want to carry a gun is, of course, their right.

Gun possession definitely won't help you there.

If a robber shoots first and asks questions later if they see you with a gun?

Perhaps I should have phrased it as "violent crimes in which you would protect yourself with a gun".
I'm admittedly not a big proponent of gun possession, but at the very least, I don't think dependents should be able to own a gun and that gun locks should be mandatory.

When those old guys wrote up the american constitution they must have come to the same conclusion as me through logical thought.
For everyone to be safe one of 2 conditions must be met:
1) No one has a weapon
2) Everyone has a weapon
Option one is ridiculously expensive to uphold, and while all the good people will be unarmed, the criminals will get the weapons illegally anyways.
So logically, letting people run around with weapons makes the most sense. You're not going to break into someone's house knowing you might get shot in the face, but you will break into their house knowing you're the only one with a weapon.
Problem with gun control is the same as option #1, the only people who still have guns when you enforce gun control, are the people who shouldn't have guns (excluding military/law enforcement).

Your completely twisting my words.
You shouldn't even have a gun OUT, ever heard of a concealed carry license?
Whenever you're outside. You can tape a gun to your wang if you want to as long as your inside your own home.
Which I proceeded to answer in the following sentence.
Geez, did you really think purposeful misinterpretation and blatantly ignoring statements that answer your question is a good argument strategy?

Gun possession should be fine so long as the person has a Hunting Licence or they're a cop or something. Something where it has been legally proven they can have a gun.
And whoever said it takes skill to kill somebody with knives? Nope. Little kid could be running around with a bread knife and cut somebody's head off.~
