Quote from Osayidan;82647:
Everyone is saying the "fetus" is the living being but for the first couple of weeks, which is when abortions are done, the fetus can hardly be considered a fetus, it's still just a bunch of cells multiplying with no organs or anything. Abortion at this stage is no worst than taking the morning-after pill. Abortions done illegally sometimes are done later than this, but if abortions weren't illegal in some areas to begin with, everyone could get them done properly.
You forget that that bunch of cells has all the genetic information it needs to make all those organs.
Now while I am against birth control, I do not consider abortion and birth control to be equal in terms of how bad it is. Birth control is merely stopping the pregnancy from happening while abortion is killing an already formed, developing human being. It's sort of like the difference between stopping a farmer from growing tomatoes and burning down a field of already growing tomato plants. The latter is worse than the former because the farmer loses all the tomato seeds while the former situation allows the farmer to just grow the seeds later. Not the best analogy, but that's all I got for now.
When you boil it all down though, abortion for the most part is just a means for irresponsible people to have sex without having to take the responsibility of raising a child; and the government has no obligation to accommodate for those people by legalizing it.
