It's expensive and it depends on what you like :x. Sabre is very quick. Foil is time consuming and accurate. Epee is all our hardcore rape. I mean I can't really say it's fun, it depends on what you like. But you should try it :3
Could you elaborate, what do you mean when you say 'quick' and 'time consuming'?

If you watch a sabre match, you'll notice that the match ends in relatively a few seconds after it starts. The two people just smack each other with their swords and someone always contacts the first hit. 2 seconds, over.
Now, in amazing, awesome, super sexy foil... We have to remember to parry and avoid lunges because we are not allowed to slash. We're more time consuming because we don't just smack and hope for a hit. We actually take the time to think out or moves because we're limited in what we can do.

Sounds interesting, I'd imagine it'd be hard to block and parry with such thin weapons. (hard to call them blades)

Pretty much any of the various lamps near my desk for temporary purposes, than our meat cleaver once I get around the corner into the kitchen.
If I have time to make it to my room, my flail. >D

To me, fencing always looked like the fancy sophisticated and silly version of sword combat.
Like how the british did war in the 1700's with rows of men just shooting each other until no one was left.

Okay I want you to throw a ball bearing at someone 30 yards away every minute and a half. See how many people you hit.

Artists have a lot of dangerous art supplies, including a few different kinds of blades, really hard rulers, an easel...Or I could throw my art supply box at their head and knock them out. >_>
I'd probably be too scared, though.

Glock 27 a couple feet away from me, a 7 inch knife sitting on my desk right next to my mousepad, my nihonto daishÅ on their stand a few feet away (not fake, very real...
-setup similar to this-).
I would use the gun. I have before during my home invasion. It is impossible to know their strength, skill, weapons, or number, so it is the most efficient weapon.

I am prepared for this! I have a weapon in every room in the house that I'm in regularly. The closest weapon I have is my bowie knife. But the weapon I would use is these which is approximately 2 feet farther away.

Sharp on nearly every edge.
Yes I actually own a pair.
But do you know how to use them? A weapon is only as dangerous as the one wielding it.

They are hard to wield but I have more than enough strentgh, the key[S]blade[/S] here is that inside a house these would probably not be the best weapon. Not enough room to swing. Idk why I said I would use them, intimidation I suppose. Bowie knife and slightly smaller knife is probably what i would actually use. These weapons are sloooow, my knives are much faster.

Security Forces are my primary defense.
If an attacker assaulted my suite I have a combat knife on my belt and an entrenching tool in the closet. I'm also trained to deliver appropriate levels of force through the Marine Corps line combatives course. If they have a weapon, lethal force is an option via blunt force trauma to the head.
