Why do anime characters yell out their attacks?

Yeah, I've noticed that too with Naruto and Bleach when I still watched/follow the series. Kinda odd, they would also yell a lot when they charged in with Rasaegan or Chidori, I dunno, to add dramatic effects?

In order for the character to show his/her opponents how intimidating he/she is. Kind of like how a lion roars.
Yelling out "Thousand Needles!" sounds so much better than "I'm just gonna stab you a couple times"

Well I heard from just a rumor, that in Manga they did it to make things more obvious of what was going on. Describing the attack more clearly, because it was usually all black and white and such. It gave more dramatic effect, and helped you to visualize. Then they just put it into anime, keeping with the tradition.
