Yeah, Char kinda evolved from mask > sunglasses > no mask, and pretty much taking over Neo Zeon. I need to read up on what happened with Neo Zeon after the big 3 way battle at the end of ZZ Gundam, because I'm under the impression that Char kinda just came back. And, used his leadership skills to rebuild Neo Zeon over the next few years.
Also, I kinda supported Neo Zeon when Haman ran the show. Because, Haman is like my favorite Gundam villain. Next to maybe Scirocco. I just kinda respect him for being such a player..And getting so many female pilots to defect to the Titans for his cause.
Also, I always liked how pretty much EVERY faction in UC Gundam is corrupt in some way. The Earth Federation has just been corrupt from 0079 all the way to 0153.

Indeed, an interesting thing about UC Gundam is that it's not a typical GOOD VS EVIL OMG thing.

That's a Heldigunner. More specifically, the type that was used in the original war by the Guylos Empire powered by Deochalum. The destruction of one of Zi's moons and the catastrophe that followed from that effectively meant there was no deochalum left to use though so all subsequent DA zoids weren't as doomy as they were in the original war (well, I guess this could be said for a lot of the zoids in general).
My geeking out and collection of over 100 zoids aside, growing up as I did there's no real surprise I'm a giant robot fan. Voltron and Transformers (I can hear the "mecha purists" coming after me now) were my first real exposure to giant robots though of course things like Mazinger were already well established and famous (My parents know the Mazinger theme song!). I've always liked Gundam though I really like the various designs in 00. Exia will probably remain one of my favourites for some time to come. I'm also fond of Hi-v, Unicorn (Banshee and FA kits plox <3) and the Reborns Gundam~ In terms of the related anime I thought SEED was okay (blatantly reused scenes and such aside, I generally enjoyed it) but found SEED Destiny to just be a blatant rehashing of SEED but made worse. 00 I quite enjoyed due to conflict, politics and the technological aspect (though this also meant as the series went on, such aspects were dropped and the series became somewhat less enjoyable). Eventually I settled for just watching the fairy dust and robot fights XD Decisive Battle probably sits as one of my favourite "climax" themes. Not fond of the super cheaping out moments though. Suicide clone army go!
I like a lot of the senjutsuki in the Muv-Luv universes, really looking forward to the Total Eclipse anime. I really wanted the Five Houses version of Takemikazuchi but convention limited bleh! I saw one in a Mandarake store when I was in Fukuoka but I'm not paying over 10,000 yen for something so small. Hopefully the new Kotobukiya kits will help remedy this :V
For more alternative, I really like Linebarrel from Kurogane no Linebarrel and the general look/aesthetic they have going on in that series though in terms of actual design of the individual machina and faux-machina I only really like Linebarrel XD
I really like Break Blade, I thinking about pilotable magic "golems" in a fantasy world and it pretty much mirrors that except not quite so fantastic (but in some way that just heightens the appeal). IT also helps that the various golems and even the titular golem seem more realistically fallible (less moments of PLOT! or so I feel).
Macross... somewhat ashamed to say I haven't seen much other than the recent Frontier series. I thought that was enjoyable enough but having watched it, found myself going back only for certain key episodes. That final ep was great though. I feel like it's one big love letter to fans of the series. Really like the VF-27 though.
Code Geass.. I guess I enjoyed enough. I liked the "smaller" mechs and the alternative styling/design of them. I loled at the similarities between Lancelot and the Reborns Gundam though. Was never really a huge fan of the Guren though. I liked the Shinkiro more than it! The tech progression through the series was fun to observe.
Never got into Eva. Never liked the designs of the robots and such. So [S]shoot[/S]sue me :p
Gurren Lagan was a blast though I can't say I prefer any one mech over the others.
I like Megas XLR. Crazy, cheap and crude. A lot of clunkers but I enjoyed it overall.
There's more that could be said but I'll leave it at that for now XD

xD you sound like a reviewer. Which Mazinger theme song do your parents know? Mine usually call any kind of Japanese animation stupid and leave the room lol.

I dunno. I'm not really into Mazinger myself. I just remember this one time there was this quiz show on KTV about TV theme songs ("Which one of these is the oldest?") and my dad was humming along to the Mazinger theme and my mum's all "Of course it's Mazinger out of those four.". I'm just all "Wait, you guys know Mazinger?"

I love real robots, in those types of shows, the creators add limitations to the robots and the whole feel of it is just more realistic.
So what about video game mechas? Front Mission, ZOE, Armored Core anyone?

Zone of the Enders... Speaking of that, apparently they're making the 3rd game on the 3DS. My body is ready.
I'm waiting for Hawken though. Now that looks like a sexy game.

Solatorobo: Red the Hunter, I can't wait till it comes out. Anthropomorphic dog boy piloting a big ol' mech, should be awesome.
Xenosaga 3 had more use of the E.S.'s then the other 2, and I was very happy. The mech battles were always fun. Although it wasn't fun when you were out of your E.S. and you got into a battle with an A.G.W.S. or an A.M.W.S. with low health and EP. Though the whole series in general made me nerdgasm.
I loved the Super Robot Wars Original Generation games. The DS one, Endless Frontier, I have not played, and I'm not sure if I want too.
Zone of the Enders, I unfortunately have not played, but I have been wanting to for years. I search for it every time I go to a game store. On Amazon it's like close to $100, and I dont have that kind of money to spend on one game. Even one I really want.

Yes!! im not alone!
Here's my "should watch" mecha anime list:
1. GUNDAM!!!!! ---- dont just watch the hyped ones (Gundam Seed *cough*) i suggest watching from the first the very first series so you wont get dragged into those "omgiwatchedthis(insertgundamseries)soimawesomeandknoweverythingaboutthefranchise" holes.
2. Evangelion ---- Rei Ayanami :blood: need i say more
3. Linebarrels of Iron ---- underground mecha animes who didnt really get much attention that it deserves
4. Full Metal Panic ---- i heard theres a new series havent checked it out yet tho
5. Code Geass ----- cant remember much bout it but i do know i enjoyed it
If you're a fan of old school mecha then do check these out:
Voltes V, Daimos, Mazinger Z

This IS awesome. I played this non stop for about three days and spent 20 hours on it (first playthrough).
Generic plot and I feel it's too easy but graphics are great and the characters are lovable :)
Plus who doesn't hate anime intros?

I love anime openings~ And sometimes it's not about a generic plot, it's about how you do it :tea: (hope I explained that right xD)
How did you play it? It came out already?! *runs to gamestop*

I played the EU version :P
NA version should be out sometime next month. Make sure you ABSOLUTELY DO NOT watch the trailers. They spoil EVERYTHING.
I'm glad I played the game first before looking stuff up on youtube xD
Some of the moments at late game made me go "Oh shiiiii...."
Shin Getter is badass. Dual wielding axes? Hell yes.

Still waiting for AC5 to come out but i have a hunch Dark Souls will be keeping me company for a while
