I made this Guru thread become locked

This is an archive of the mabination.com forums which were active from 2010 to 2018. You can not register, post or otherwise interact with the site other than browsing the content for historical purposes. The content is provided as-is, from the moment of the last backup taken of the database in 2019. Image and video embeds are disabled on purpose and represented textually since most of those links are dead.

Eventually, it'll all just come to bite this site in the ass, and running damage control for past actions isn't easy at all, especially for a small niche like Mabinogi.

Taking pride in it, and brag about it on this site looks differently however, and thats the problem.

Saani and Brad doing it don't really matter, and it was amusing only because it was through boredom. However, having a staff member going there, and being involved where a mod has to step in (Even though it wasn't even a serious issue), and than having the same mod post on their competitor site just makes it look like sabatoge and trolling.

I don't really care, I just think the staff here should probably avoid being involved with anything that happens with Guru, as it'll look badly on the sites reputation, and fixing that reputation is never easy.

You're basically protected from DDoS while I'm here.

I can have them shut down within a day as long as the DDoS continues, as I can have my work request an investigation into the attack, and I know none of the script kiddies they'd be able to get are better than me or the people at my work :awesome:.

I am really disappointed in the staff of this site. Like Moppy in particular. He really should have just stayed away from the site instead of going there and causing a small flame war. If you can't go there and act civil, why not stay away? I am still going there because I can act more civil apparently. So if I may ask, why not just leaving guru alone? What did guru do to make you so mad? It's not like you were hurt by anyone there or the site. So, why not just grow up and learn to care about that site. It's just like MN, if you hate it so much, stay away.

Also, was it you who were Scratchy?

I don't know the whole story, but I can understand why the staff would have hard feelings towards Guru.

Several years ago, I ran a large community (~3million members), as the head of staff under the owner, who was completely inactive. During the time that we struggled with multiple issues, he was in discussion with several people to sell the community, without telling us first. When a deal was finally met, it seemed like all our hard work was nothing more than to create the owner money, and ultimately lead to all the staff leaving (I left first, and everyone followed my lead).

If the staff here have the same feelings I had when I left that site, I can understand why they would still hold a grudge (I still visit the site I left, just to laugh at how poorly it is run, seeing as the average age of a business/hosting forum is now ~15-16).

Also, I just re-read the thread: Moppy didn't instigate the fight, Itchy did. If you read my post, it was more that MabiNation should avoid any confrontation with Guru, as to retain their reputation, which can easily be tarnished by proceeding the way they have.

Moppy and Arsik are really the only staff (Excluding administrators) that I really see do -work-, rather than post useless things, and make huge mistakes that could have lead to a larger issue. This could have become a larger issue, but it wouldn't have been on Moppy, it would have been on Itchy for trying to bait a response (Anything Moppy would have said would have just been a rebuttal, and would have ended up as an argument with people taking sides).

Also, telling people to leave the site if they donâ€™t like itâ€¦ That is just stupid. Osay is willing to take suggestions, and seems to want to put the time into his community (Unlike the other Mabinogi sites I've visited). If someone has a problem with this site, it would make more sense to appeal to Osay to make the changes that they view would make the forum more likeable, rather than to just leave. Now, if Osay ran this forum like they some of the other sites do, tossing out suggestions and picking fights, which is a prime example of a reason to leave.

The fight was instigated by Itchy, not by Moppy.

First page, he skirted the topic where he could have made a newer user aware of the situation of majority of the active forum leaving, instead he was vague and didn't go into details until pressed, and what he said wasn't enough to change someones opinion of the site.

And it is unlikely he hates Guru, and more he hates Itchy, if he hates anything at all. Feelings of being betrayed don't always turn into hatred, but more often remorse that you were betrayed. The people who hate Guru, or hold hard feelings towards them are the people that purposely harass them, rather than the person who posts passively.

The only thing wrong that Moppy has done, was creating this thread to brag about it, though it is amusing that the thread was locked... Because Itchy was preparing to troll, and not the other way around.

Xiya, it just looks like you're trying to find some reason to say that Moppy and the other staff are bad (Some of which I won't deny), and not deserving of respect. If thats the case, just come out and say it, rather than trying to turn something that was completely innocent originally into something much bigger than it was. Don't use my posts as an example of the actions not being innocent either, my posts were meant to make them aware of actions that could happen, and not to really point out anything wrong they had done other than this one thread (At least for mods).

I remember one time near open beta Itchy tried to sell the site and it pissed everyone off including people in the IRC(Pheonix, Eoi(I forgot his original name but I remember he changed it). Every in the IRC was talking about how much he loved money and decided to name his child monopoly and some other stuff.
Also I was very sad when Mabiguru dropped their IRC >.>
Wait what happened to our IRC we had one o_o....right?
