This is a Fiona based topic, but I think general discussion of fighting Colru would be fine to help me with this.
I managed a win today using Goddess Graces and assists. Still, I died way too much today and did nearly no (~6%) damage.
I've already sort of looked at his pattern, and I think I understand most of it. Still, I'm unsure how to actually stay on the offensive while not dying.
1. I can't do anything when he enters the phase with the ring of fire
2. The walls are laggy/glitchy and sometimes don't rise. Leading me to get hit. Alternatively I'm just too far if I try to stay on Colru.
3. His rock toss unblockable is still a pain to see coming, especially as he uses it during the only phase I'm comfortable staying on him.
4. The gap between his swings are too short to safely fit a LR with Swords in.
Really, I just can't find a good openning for me to actually insert any smashes during. Anyone mind helping?

Seeing as I'm going to run Colru in about 30 minutes, I guess I'll give some bad advice and follow it. Don't take what I say seriously until I prove it.
My guess would be to wait until he's stunned (if that ever happens) or just don't fit in smashes, they do good damage but everything can't be about the smash. Also, attack the sides/ back so you have more area/ time of preparation.

Well, the main problem being that running around and waiting for stun is a slow process. You need to wait for him to spam his rock throw, then throw the leftovers onto the catapults and launch them at him.
His range can cover a good quarter of the area, his unblockable is just a pain to dodge too. Most of his moves also have hitboxes to the side or behind, and they're multi hit, so he spins around quite a bit if he's tracking someone else not in front of him. Not to add that this fire ring is a simple AoE around him, and most his normal swipes cover at least 180 degrees in front of him. On top of all this, this is after the duo fights.
(Just as a note for all Fionas, do NOT go to the NW corner. The green golem is where Colru's fire circle comes from, and it's impossible to do anything resembling damage)
Honestly, not using the smashes would probably give minimal damage. Fiona's damage comes primarily from the smashes. LR is the quicket smash possible, and it seems that is unable to finish in time. Even after his 3 hit combo. It's not too hard to survive, run away from Colru and stay close to the walls. But that's not helping the party at all.

I mean, for Lanns the fitting in a smash is probably no problem, +10 weapons then maxed slashing high for like, ~20%+ attack speed. Enchanting weapons for increased speed seems to be a lot, I don't know what else.

Eh, I might try just focusing on surviving tomorrow, rather then doing damage.
I'm using a +10 Prideful Dreamwalker too, so really there isn't much I can do about my attack speed (besides getting Valor).

What shield are you using? Small or large?
-
Invertex wrote on 2011-10-22 00:58
Large. I've noticed a lot of his swipes are normal attacks (as is his flame ring. I can imagine counter spamming when he has it up since he only uses his rocket fists in that phase).

Well I can't even get past the duos. Poor me. But this electric field blast thing is so annoying...

Well I'm nowhere near this new content but from what I've seen and heard there are catapults, correct? I assume these are to stun him (and perhaps do some decent damage?). If you can't get in close and dole out some damage then perhaps concentrate on these to help you team mate. If you're not able to do that, draw aggro. You said it's pretty simple to survive and just by surviving he'll have somebody else to thing about clobbering, so why not be that somebody while your team gets some good hits in? I have no idea if any of that was valid, but I sure hope there was something useful in it.

I think the electric shock occurs when one duo is fully wiped out. I'm not sure about that though.
Also, the catapults are reliant on his rock toss to provide ammo. They take 2-3 hits to stun. Main problem being that they are stupidly hard to aim, so I perfer just helping load ammo.
Drawing aggro is not really a valid solution as far as I'm concerned. Many of his attacks have extremely long and wide ranges. Doesn't help that you need to constantly watch out for an unblockable (still learning how to see it). That and he usually starts spamming his black projectiles that require the wall to survive. Cue everyone hiding behind a wall, surviving one barrage, Colru already started a second one, wall goes down, people try to get wall back up, wall glitches, 6 dead people.

You brought the wrong shield.
You can simply bring small shield, get next to him when he starts the fire AoE, and pg then counter attack, the pg gives a bit of damage blocking period (of the same hit, if he hit you with something else you would still get daamge), and you can use counter attack on it, without getting damaged at all.
Sprint smash to dodge the big rock toss, you need to sprint right before he toss the rock (when you saw the rock coming it's too late).
You should check lagerowonder's video and study how he deal with all the moves.

if both person gets wiped out on the first part, the mini golem is just gonna keep spamming a aoe which will pretty much kill everyone else unless someone use a party feather to revive those two, also the 4 fires at the beginning each gives a free revive

Alright, the first part is easy, all you need to know is what room to go to, but Colru himself is a bit difficult, seeing as there are only 2 walls. Lann's slip dash can dodge the black orbs that come flying down, but there are 3 and slip dash only avoids 2 at most.

Colru is a pain in the ass for Fionas :C

Yep, you need to counter him. Two of his forms are heavily counterable, that being the flame aura and his 5 hit combo. Problem is, you better not lag or it'll be a steep uphill battle.
Colru seems to be a bit biased against Fionas from my perspective. While you can do the above, it takes far more skill for far less worth (as your stun doesn't do much compared to the catapults) to even be remotely helpful here. Meanwhile, Lanns and Karoks can stay in the face of Colru the entire battle, and Evies just equip the Staff for the usual lulz.
That being said, I'm getting a little sick of the boss trend that is happening. All of the recent raids seem to have some element that specifically combats Fiona, and Fiona really doesn't have that easy of a time to begin with.
