HYPOCRITE!!!!!
I died inside D:
My dad's a gamer but he likes shoot em ups, flying sim combat games (he watches me play HIS online a lot). Yeah not any RPG stuff, and he doesn't play on the computer just Xbox 360.
My dad prefers a computer over a console, but he will play.

rotflmfao.
My son made me read this thread. Not sure why he wanted me to read it, but the discussion on page 4 re: rofl and rotfl being an old person v young person use echoed the discussion I just had with him as I read the first page and read Q.Q and went off on my own pet peeve.
"Why do people use Q.Q to mean something other than 'quit your whining and alt-Q Q noob'?"
"You're old dad."
Which probably is the heart of the problems with parents not understanding the games their children play-- a lack of proper communication.

Neither of my parents really gamed. Well my dad used to collect arcade games when he was younger but that's about it. It was primarily me, my cousin Geoff and my uncle playing Star Trek games on the PC and playing consoles and crap. Me and my cousin would have like 10 hour death matches on 007 on N64, hahaha. Good times.

Hahaha that really is the major problem. I don't understand half of the new lingo online and apparently i spell things wrong now, haha.
Me and my good mate Air feel old everyday on mabi since the communication gap is so large sometimes. I taught him what i could but we both get confused to no end some days. We joke about old school mafia and classic cartoons and crap while some young teen goes "what the heck are you talking about?". Whenever i think that i play a game with a bunch of kids born in the 90s for the most part I kind of go "oh crap I'm not that old, what the hell now."
It's always so very cool to see parents and kids gaming together though. It's a great bonding activity i find.

My parents never had a problem with my gaming. And most of my friends were also gamers. I never talked about games with the ones that weren't. So no problem there. My little bro and I use to play CS against each other and he'd probably play Mabi with me if they had ADSL.
The discussion has made me feel a bit old rotflmao, but it's good to see that there's some older members here as well.

My parents never made fun of me whenever I play games. Since my computer is in the living room, they would walk past and ask "What are you doing?" "What's that?" "Do that thing again" stuff like that. My mum used to be a gamer actually.. she was really into console games but then stopped xD
My parents usually check out what I'm doing and tell me to do things in the game XD. When I'm watching anime or something, they usually ask about it and watch with me. They like Full Metal Alchemist *~*

Funny, its like my moms expresion when my brother was playing cod or something on his computer.
She first heard what sounded like a 10 year old yelling the f word over and over again, came over and freaked out because he was shoot "real looking people"
She threw a fit and told my brother he should be more like me, playing good games that dont involve slaughtering humans. Then she turned and pointed at my screen, where i was playing l4d and started yelling some more.
And then she went on a rampage taking all games that even have remote signs of human beings killing eachother in them, it took me a month to convince her to give me back my gta vice city, and then i still haven't got her to let me play l4d on my computer, though i do anyway cause im 17 and have my own computer.
And my dad got pretty far into zelda oot when i started it on an emulator for him last month, which was odd but good, his disability usualy makes it so he cant think that clearly.

Only issue my Mom has with mabinogi is she thinks the Red Dragon is a demon of some sort. She was all "Get that demonized junk off the screen! TURN IT OFF!"
...yet the Desert dragon doesn't bother her. Must be those horns....

My family doesn't like the game, and so doesn't my piano teacher. >.>
My sister makes fun of me playing it, and says i have no life. Even if i went out with friends in life the day before.
My parents think it's wasted time that could be used studying. True, but my Dad bribes me to get good marks by saying: 'I'LL GET YOU MORE MONEY FOR YOUR GAME.'
My sister used to be a gamer like me, and she occasionally jumps onto maplestory. However, her gamer days are over and she just plays facebook games and this poupee doll thingymajig that's more gay than Neopets. My piano teacher likes to call Mabinogi, mabimaginisheep...Or something like that anyway...His sister (who is my age) played it for a while before he told her off for doing so xD
My friends are mostly asian and some of them used to be gamers, but now they do other stuff that i'm not really sure of. A friend saw a screenshot of mabinogi and was like: Oh, so it's like WoW? LOL.
And then the rest have never heard of it or don't care :D

My sister :(
She came over once during DD event, and said "God, why don't they use another weapon, I'm so sick of that damn sword hitting that rock."
:(
And she makes fun of my unicorn. :T_T:
Aside from her, like NOBODY Else knows I play videogames.

OMG Best post in the thread :XD:
Oh, I have tears in my eyes. Wouldn't you be some sort of demon-slayer if your killing it lol?
My Dad typically frowns upon me for playing videogames, but he tolerates them so long as my grades are good.
And what I mean good is A's and B's. He almost had a myocardial infarction when I brought a C home.
The C was from an AP class. (So, its actually a B)
My mom and sister are Maplestory ADICTS. I quit a while ago, but I still have to help them time to time.
Mom: Sweetie, Can you do the Ludi PQ for me? You're such an expert!
Me: *Has done over 100 Ludi PQs* When are you ever going to learn to do it yourself, Mom?
Mom: Awwww.... But, I'll learn better if I see you do it for the twenty-seventh time!
To this day.... She still hasn't learned how to Ludi PQ. But she's level 77 now- so it doesn't matter.

This is exactly how it is for me! The only C I ever got was in AP US History.
It was an 84...missed a B by 1 point...
