Rep Spread Suggestion

  There isn't even a timer option.
  
  All I can do is a combination of both these:
  1) how many reps you can give in a 24 hour period.
  2) how many reps you have to give before you can rep the same person again.
  
  right now option 1 is set to 10, and option 2 is set to 8, meaning you can rep the same person twice in 24 hours.
  
  Can maybe play around a bit with those numbers but that's about it. The rep system is very weak in options/flexibility. Maybe after the forum upgrade there's going to be more control over it but I'm not getting my hopes up. I'm also not adding any plugins or making big changes until the upgrade, and the upgrade probably won't be until the holidays since I'll need 3 - 4 days in a row to do it.

  He told at least one person to stop bashing them and to chill out even when she wasn't. I'm inclined to think that he's at least a bit jealous. He brings things up in threads repeatedly that should really be brought up to staff members. I for one happened to stop and consider his point, and happen to disagree with it. I only want to rep people who deserve it. I don't want to have to "spread it around" just so I can rep someone again, if it ends up happening. Moreover, if the little purple skull bothers him so much he has to learn to take it to Osay and not to every thread about "favoritism".

  Zeo, I would try and take your problem to an administrator, if you're still bothered by it. It does no good out here, because all that is going to happen is that you're going to get bashed and called butthurt, which unfortunately has already happened quite a few times. Which totally ruins the discussion part of a discussion section when you can't try to discuss something without being called names. I don't blame you for bringing it up multiple times, but you seem to get the same result out in the public.

  I would agree with Zeo if the rep system actually meant something. I don't see how some of you could have obtained your levels of reputation without some sort of back scratchery.

I said it before, the rep system has many flaws, though people don't really use it properly some times, otherwise people like Justified, EndlessDreams, Kaeporo, Maia, Okami, Aubog, Archibald ... and probably many others would have much more rep, these are people that I always see making good contributions to the forum and the discussions in it. And people with over 3 or 4 warnings/infractions wouldn't have as much.
  
  And those that are arguing with Zeo need to understand it's not pretty for 4 people to gang up on him calling him bratty, jealous, childish and spoiled, I find that deplorable.
  
  Anyway, the suggestion is reasonable as (if the system worked properly) it would allow better distribution of reputation - but since Osay said it's not possible, there's no point in discussing it I guess.

  I'm not sure how many of mine come from general discussions but I know it's quite a bit. I'm not the smartest person out there but often enough someone will like something I said, and that's where my rep comes from.

  About 1/4 of the rep I receive is incoherent and makes me wonder how anyone decided to rep me for said posts.
  
  But about half my repped posts are practically essays. When I really get passionate and talk about something for paragraphs on end. When people strongly agree with the statement, they rep it.
  
  The other 1/4th of my reps are usually derived off humor. When I make someone laugh, they return the favor with a rep.
  
  There are bound to be inconsistencies, reps based on favoritism, but its not an awful system. People rep those whose posts brighten their day.
  
  It feels improper for someone with the highest rep to be defending reps as a system that isn't run on popularity, but the fact of the matter is I've spent a significant portion of my time and life on forums and with the number of posts I make, its only logical to say there has got to be a correlation.
  
  I can't help that not everyone caters to my beliefs or agrees with my sense of humor, but I do my best to let everyone know whats on my mind and share whatever jokes I have. I mean, this IS a forum, a place of communication.
  
  I'll admit I don't believe I deserve about 25% of the rep I get, but to say this whole thing is one big joke and a popularity contest would make me a little bit upset, as I do take a degree of pride over all the thanks and agreements I get in the rep comments.
