Don't forget the way they killed each other wasn't exactly the most climactic scene. Well, at least they're finally starting ALO after this.

many SAO fans are disappointed with this week's episode, I am too kinda, it was way too rushed compared to the light novel.
Oh well, I hope ALO arc will be good.

Episode 13:
Plot: THE BOSS IS TOO STRONG AND WE CANT EVEN HURT IT! HOW WILL WE DEFEAT IT?!
Fans: OH BOY CANT WAIT FOR EPISODE 14
Episode 14:
Plot device: THE BOSS IS DEAD!
Fans: Wait what happened?
Plot device: The commander was the main bad guy the whole time!
Fans: Wait what?
Plot device: Lets just skip 25 floors and just have a game ending duel.
Fans: What.
Plot device: Kirito finds inner strength through the powers of the protagonist and breaks the rules of the game!
Fans: Wha-
Plot device: Kirito asks "why did you do this?" and Kayaba answers "I dunno lol"
Fans: ...
Plot device: They both die. But then Kirito wakes up at the hospital bed.
Fans: ...
ON NEXT EPISODE, ALO!
Fans: OH OKAY
Seriously, someone needs to explain this to me and how the next arc is supposed to tie in, because it feels like a horrible in-joke for everyone who read the novel or some bullshit. This episode was a train wreck.

actually.. Asuna is the first to break the game limitation.. She somehow moved her body while been under paralizy.
As for Kirito, he though he was going to die and imaged it first. But then when he stoped imaging it, he was not dead yet and tried something.
As for ALO
after the SAO incident is over, out of the remaining 6000 people, only around 5700 were freed from their eternal sleep. Sadly for Kirito, Asuna is part of those 300 remaining people who are still sleeping with their nervegear on. This is Kirito's quest to find a way to bring Asuna back.
I think they skipped most of the boss battle due to time constraints. If you saw how much damage they did in episode 13 after everyone was attacking, I'd guess it'd take an extremely long time to finish. Says that it took over an hour in the LN.
They did somewhat cheapen on animating what little they did of the battle in the beginning of this episode though.
I don't think the hallways would've been that empty though, considering the situation.
Episode 15 will probably be in the real world for most of it, possibly a bit of ALO at the end if they rush.

Honestly as much as I enjoy the light novel a lot and the anime too, Kirito and Asuna are obviously only alive due to plot armor. Kirito should have died like twice if it wasnt for being the main character. Feels like lazy writing to me honestly. I still enjoy it a lot but it feels eh.

Man tell me about it. I had a hard time accepting his death. But well I kinda watched it three time already so!
I'm not saying protagonist should die tho. I'm just saying the way it was done in SAO seems kind of lazy writting. Because seriously surviving with 1 hp due to plot arm-- power of love or whatever! And the whole Asuna who died but didnt die in the real world mainly because she's the main character's lover. People are gonna argue me saying "He killed him right after the game ended she didnt have time to die" but eh. It could have been done better!

That show how much I keep in touch with anime/manga lately. Well that make me slightly happier about the end then. Thanks for informing me.

Remember when Kayaba made himself mortal again? I think he also took the time to make sure that if Asuna "died" she wouldn't end die in real life. For Kirito's case it was a "miracle of the system" or some other bs.

Actually, I thought it was that Kayaba set it up so nothing could die(real world) temporarily, while the duel was not finished. I think I recall it somewhere, but I could be wrong.
Just finished volume six. The ending real world part is giving me such strong deja vu, I'd think that I read it before if I didn't know I haven't.
