Also, there is a special edition that's hour and 40 min that's just up today. It's mostly review with pool scenes in between

pool scenes fan service:D?

Ah come on, you're not giving the special enough credit.
True, it's around 60% recap with pool scenes, as well as Kirito's conversations with the mysterious visitor. The special recaps select scenes from the story and explains some of the things that weren't clear throughout the season. As well as the last 20 minutes, which is original content.
The series has some pretty funny moments (although mostly trolling), and really the only bad things about it IMO were Lizbeth being Lizbeth, Suguha being Suguha, and Asuna's new Alfheim avatar. The fan service is easy to look past, but it is still there - although for a special, it should be expected.

Well it's back. Let's hope it's not as terrible as part two.

First there's the whole elf thing..
I would laugh so hard if they made some kind of giant thing for this season.

There's no giant thing. This season's setting is a guns-themed world.

I liked the first episode. The government telecommunications expert guy makes an appearance (as in the trailer); he's just like me irl. :3
Except I don't fund kids to work as government agents in MMOs.
Also liked the references to wearable computing technologies, which are being developed right now.
Looking forward to the next episode!

I've read pretty much every sao light novel and the writing is just kind of ugh. I was barely able to finish gungale because some of the writing is just dreadful but there are some really good moments. Though they are very few and far between
Gun gale is barely okay.
If anyone wants to read the good shit of sao
The best of the series are litterally Volume 8 - Early and Late
Volume 2 - Aincrad
Volume 1 - Aincrad
Not in that order but these are all really good. Read these and you can skip the rest of the novels.

Yeah. I actually like the first episode. Its definitely a step up from ALO. I hope this turns out to be good.
