I was just thinking about whether it was okay to call you Emily or not... <:
But no, it doesn't bother me at all, as you can see.
When I was younger, I used to hate my name because quite a few people couldn't say it right (now I find people who can't say it properly rather endearing) and there wasn't anybody else named Claudia I knew, though now I have a friend who's my age and also named Claudia...(and also, the story of 6th grade reading class and the meaning of your name OHLAWD that didn't help my self-esteem.)
But after a while (and realizing the hassle of coming up with a creative and unique username and hating it when people call me by a nickname/abbreviating usernames), I realized that having a name that was a lot different than everybody else's was actually not so bad (and hey, it could've been a lot worse), so I eventually embraced it. I love my name, yo.

It bothers me when people I do not know in school call me by my real name, mostly because I am freaked out they actually know who I am. Online no one calls me by my real name (Unless on facebook or something) so not really.

People don't know how to pronounce Claudia?

...no? I find it kind of odd that it actually would bother anyone, unless you're some kind of anonymity freak or you hate your name...
It'd be just like someone at your school or at your workplace hearing someone else say your name, and then them using it when they talk to you/about you. I don't really see a difference.

Tiffany means the Embodiment of God.
:awesome:
Comes from the Greek Theophania, from which theology, theism, and Theo came from. Then came Theophany, then eventually the modern current form Tiffany.

Joel Peralta.
Facebook me.
Find me.
Love me.
My name's my name. I don't think it should bother you that they use your first name. It's nice to know that even a stranger remembers your name in the first place.

If you have someone kick in your front door and threaten to kill you (and indeed they would have, were you to not sleep with a glock 27), or someone kill your dogs in your back yard, then you'll start to feel a bit more paranoid about your information being so readily available.

I probably would. I'm glad I'm not in that situation though.
Hope you aren't either.

I'm thinking maybe the reason it bothers me is because the name presented to everyone here is Skye, not Emily. It's like people just assume that they can call me Emily even though I don't present that as my name for everyone (even though it's pretty much out there anyway).
It probably shouldn't bother me, since I wasn't exactly careful about keeping my name private, but I can't help that it does. It's weird.

It's already happened.
I've also had a stalker arrested that was sending me death threats.
Fun stuff, eh?

Its kinda so-so for me, but only small number of people know my real name. Bothers me when people on the internet call me by real name while I have to call them by their username. Worse is when your name spreads out and everyone starts calling you by your real name.
Player: Hi -insert real name here-
Me: Do I know you?
Player: oh sorry, but I thought ------ is your real name right?
Me: You call me that if I ever see your face outside the monitor. Right now you will continue calling me Juju.

It doesn't bother me in the slightest. I have a "friend" who calls me Yammy, because of my username. I'd probably be a bit annoyed if she used that in public, instead of my real name, which she knows but calls me Yammy 24/7. Plus, some people on nation know my real name because of my Amnesia streams. *Thinks about what happened in Justine* Okay, maybe it wasn't good for me to remember that. . . :sigh:

Nope. Most people call me Muyo, which is my name. So on other forums and such, that's what people call me (since it's usually also my username), so I don't really care. But I do feel awkward if someone I barely talk to calls me by a nickname or something.

Nanachi wrote on 2012-01-08 20:54
I'm not bothered by it nor do I care. When people ask my name I usually tell them that they can either call me Nana or Michelle.
If a stranger knows my name, I'll just be confused at first and ask them how they know my name, but that's pretty much it.

Well, if I know the person's real name I'll try to use it. .______.; Like Emily with Skye, Joel with Phunkie, Kevin, etc. If I know your real name I rather call you that than you know, not your real name.
I can see why it bothers some people but yeh, maybe I'm not that affected by it because only one person knows my real name on these forums. And she doesn't go on the forums anymore. So yeh, I dunno if it bothers some people all they have to do is just tell me and I'll stop using their real name.
