Oh...well...
I just got to the love part...I guess the hate part is next? Here I thought it actually got good...Well Emi's wasn't easy either as she was Love, Love, Get the **** away from me, love, get the **** away from me, and then love again...
Oh God...Rin just reminded me of the Movie 50 First dates.
She forgot about the kiss yesterday. Is it going to be just like that movie and Hikao will have to resort to tapes?
Umm....
...
What the hell did Rin just bamble out all at once...I think I need a moment to digest all of this...
She just gushed out like a waterfall with words. This is the most she's said in one full swoop. Did she just talk really fast?
[Image: http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee199/kingofrunes/whattherin.png]
Worst part...it doesn't make ****ing sense?!
I think a part of me just died trying to read that.
I'm actually slightly crying now after reading that and feel a need to bang my head against something. I don't know if I can continue...
Is this even salvageable? Should I even try?
...
Act 3: Distance. Did I just friend zone myself into neutrality or just made the path to bad ending hell? Or am I still heading towards a happy ending? I don't really know. It's so damn confusing.
God I hate Rin's story so much. It's been nothing but hell for me from the very beginning. I'm about to say **** it and come back to this later. I can't take it anymore. Let's do Hanako instead.

Rins story is very very confusing. Make it to the end and then see for yourself, i think im going to give hers another read through later just to see if i can make any more sense of it. But no matter what i do, i do NOT want to see the bad endings for hers. Or really any of the bad endings.
Mabey later, but good endings first.
But Rin is still my favorite character i think, she really reminds me of myself for some reason. Im not a painter, but i guess im very artistic in that i like to write and create stories in my head.
Hmm slight spoilers or just general spoilers for rins path i guess, ill tag it just to be safe. Its mostly just me rambling i think hehe.
And i find it hard to relate to people too. Ive never gotten that close to people because they just dont understand how i think. I spent most of my highschool reading and just not making many friends. Im not even close to as bad as Rin is at this, but even now, having a girlfriend for a year, i STILL dont understand how dating works, or how people and society work in general. Im just, bad at being in society. Sometimes its just easier to pretend im in my own little world, where nobody exists but me and my stories.
Anyway i already want to read katawa again. Its a great story for each of the paths.

I don't even want to go back and re read Rin's story. The state of the relationship is like a roller coaster that ascends and descends faster and faster every time there's a development.
Even the good ending left me going "Wut." because as if by magic, the relationship got fixed.

Ninjam wrote on 2012-01-17 08:58
Thats why i want to reread it somewhat. I think there was something deeper? going on. I somewhat got it the first time, but everything has a reason, and the way all the stories are written makes me think that Rins needs a second readthrough.
That, and i like to reread interesting things. Id read it again regardless, cause ill probably end up reading all of the stories again too.

I suppose you are right. I'm sticking to it no matter how much of a pain her story is. Let's just see where this thing bloody heads. At least Emi's was much more straight forward.
Nearing the end of Act 3 of Rin's path. It's been painful.
She kept talking about destroying herself. She got past her artist block but at what cost? She looks so sad and broken right now. It depresses me.

I'll try and finish this after work.

I'm not really sure if I can keep playing this game. No other game has had me this emotional before. So far, I've only played through 3 routes, just those three routes (or rather, two of them) alone caused me to be like this.
The first try was a blind run, trying to get Hanako's route, but I somehow ended up with Emi instead, most likely because I tried to make healthy choices since I thought that not listening to the nurse would result in a very generic bad end where you have a heart attack and die. But anyways, I continued to play through it regardless instead of starting over.
At first, I thought that her problem that the story would have revolved around her pushing herself too hard, and ending up having to have one of her legs amputated further, past the knee, effectively keeping her from being able to run anymore, considering all that was leading up to it, where she says that the nurse has to make sure that her legs are clean enough and not causing any chaffing/tearing from being worked too hard, to the track meet where she was first noticeably limping. However, I was wrong about my prejudgment.
Instead of getting the "overly-cheery-girl-turns-emo" scenario, I got a scenario that I experienced first hand with Fal, where no matter how much Hisao/I tried to get closer to Emi/Fal, she kept him/me at bay because she didn't want to become too close. Then once I reached the ending where Hisao and Emi made up and started to get closer together, that pissed me off because I'm not able to do the same. While those two were in the same school, where one of them is highly predictable as to where she'll be to get her mind off of things, so being able to find her and apologize is easy to do, the same isn't as nice for me. Instead, I get put into a conversation with Fal the very second I logged into Mabi that day, and she broke up with me, and like what Hisao did, took a few days to try to collect my thoughts. However, I never really got a chance to change our relationship again, because once I was ready to either try and start our friendship anew or even better, get back together with her, she pretty much ran away from everyone and no one knew where to find her.
Then by miracle, I found her on Vindictus, and instead of saying what I wanted to months before then, we ended up in a fight about how she was trying to distance herself from all her friends, who were worried about her suddenly disappearing. The next day, I talked to her best friend in real life, asking if anything was going on with her life, and instead being told that she has a problem with trusting other people, and he asked me to try and forget about her. not clearly thinking straight, I did promised to try, and I felt discouraged and upset with myself about that, especially three months later when I was getting stuff ready to run my G9 semi/final and I saw her talking to someone else. I did my best to ignore her, and run to the healer behind Andras, and then rush to the altar as soon as I could to avoid her as much as possible, at which point, I felt like complete **** and didn't want to bother with the game for a while. And then her sudden "return" to the site after quitting it altogether and visiting my profile didn't sit well on my stomach.
And so, then I finish the route, and I'm angry. Angry that, even though it was scripted for Hisao to get back together with Emi, he was able to do so, where as every chance that I get to, I either screw it up or try to avoid any further confrontation. And then shortly after that, I became angry and depressed with myself because while I did have a few chances to try and make things right between me and the woman I love, I didn't because of my stupid morals getting in the way, since I did promise someone that I wouldn't pursue Fal any further, and so took priority over a stupid promise with someone I only talked to twice before, both times when Fal was around, rather than my own heart and happiness.
And of course, the incident that happened last weekend didn't exactly go over too well with me since I just finished the route right before the whole thing escalated.
A few days after that when I started to be in a better mood, I opened the game up again, and instead of trying to shoot for a certain person, I just played normally, and ended up with Shizune's path.
I honestly didn't care for the story all that much. I expected that the main dilemma would be Misha and Shizune having a fight that had something to do with Hisao, though I wasn't exactly expecting that Misha was in love with Shizune, and that their "fight" was Misha giving up on Shizune because she would never be able to be with Shizune the way that she wants.
And the ending was pretty lame in my opinion. Yes, the school year's over, Misha and Shizune are best of friends and possibly closer than before. But the way they made the ending out to be, how the student council just went their own ways after high school, just felt empty to me. Did Hisao and Shizune stay lovers, or was it just a high school romance? Just because of that, it didn't feel complete at all, and left too many questions that needed to be answered, which is why I was hoping that after the credits would be an "Act 5" or an epilogue that goes on to explain where each story ended up a few years down the line, so then I can get a little closure out of each story.
And then I got distracted with MapleStory/Vindictus, so I haven't touched the game again in a few days, and I ended up going for Hanako again, though this time, I tried not to raise any flags for Emi, and Hanako was easy to get. I finished it just this morning.
All I'm going to say about the ending was that I had to go get some breakfast to distract me from just breaking down and bawling at how sweet the ending was. Even now, nearly an hour after I finished it, I'm still kinda sniffling and feel my eyes are watery just thinking about how perfect that ending was.
But with people saying how "good" Rin's route is, I don't think I'll be able to handle it at all. While I'm not saying that I'm a heartless, emotionless bastard, I don't like to express my emotions, so all of this sudden outburst of emotion that I'm getting from this game can't be good for my psyche. While it's probably a good thing, I rather not upset others by me suddenly breaking out into tears, because even though most of the time I'm stoic and "cold", I do it to try and keep my emotions in check, because when I get emotional, I get really emotional and lose control over them.
But other than worrying about how my shell to keep my emotions from overwhelming me might break, I'd continue to play this game, because this game is easily one of the best stories I've ever read, and I think that everyone should play it, even if they don't like anything kinda related to anime and such.

The Cat told me to get this earlier, and I will, I just won't be able to get to it until the weekend, since there are other things I'm still catching up on. Since I hardly have much free time for myself, it's hard for me to even think about getting invested in something I may or may not like, but this has gotten a lot of good comments from people so I'm definitely giving it a shot. If I get all emotional I'll just let it out on my boyfriend. o3o.

Hanako's route seemed to end very abruptly. It left me pretty disappointed, though I did enjoy seeing her character progress as the story went on.
Though, only the one sex scene, was also kinda disappointing. Almost tacked on like an afterthought it seemed like.
I mean the whole ending, it was just like build up build up build up... story's over. wth.

Emi's still the best route by far imo. It's probably personal preference, but she was definitely the best to me. Most exciting too, and seemingly best written.

If i can make a sugestion. Everyone should read lillies path last.
And yes, this game is very emotional. I think Rins path hit me hardest because its sometimes exactly how my relationship feels.
I can visably see my girlfriend get frustrated at my lack of understanding as to what im supposed to do sometimes. Its sometimes funny, its good im dating a very patient person. I have a feeling most normal people would give up because of my short attention span and shy personality ages ago. I quite literally said outloud "icecream looks good" after our first attempt to make out, because we were watching death note and it was still on and i saw L with icescream.
And for hanakos scene
The single scene with hanako was supposed to feel distant, and unemotional. Shes only giving herself to you to try and make you stay with her, for fear of you abandoning her. The main character, naturally, does not pick up on this until she tells him. Because like most guys, girls compleatly confuse him. Thats not just me that has no idea how to read girls right?
