Woot, I got close beta key :D
Edit: It seems that the key is for Europe :( I am in school right now and I can't access the website, will try later at home, but not sure if I can play on European server.
How did that happen o_o
If they keep the current prices, it's a lot cheaper than other p2p games on the market. It's also less than what I spend on Mabinogi
just to keep my guild up and running. If I'm playing f2p and paying some amount for some thing...it makes total sense to me to play p2p and pay a lesser amount for everything.

It's art.
But it's preeeetty weird that she's wearing something and they're still exposed.

If Mabinogi can have a statue of such, I'm pretty sure any other Korean MMORPG can have them.

I have a stranger urge to buy this game now...for ARTISTIC reasons of course. x3

Server is down right now, I am going to try play Papori tomorrow (papori with giant broadsword lol)
TLCBonaparte wrote on 2012-02-20 02:57
Ok, I am done with my beta, today is the last day of the closed beta, I still have time to play but I think I had my fair share already (yesterday server was suppose to lose at 5 pm, but somehow stayed up, we were all like OMG they are trolling us, while power leveling like shit cause it felt like a waste not to play lol). So I made 2 characters. A Casantina Sorcceror and a Elin Slayer, (1 because she is hot, 2 because I find little girl with giant broadsword amusing). I maxed my Slayer to level 22 which is the highest you can go. I seen the level 20 boss raid and some 5 men mini monsters around the map. My conclusion is:
1. Graphic: I think most of you will find the graphic pleasing. I turned my texture up to highest and it can still run smoothly on my laptop, so graphic is not that demaning. You should still system check but the bar shouldn't be too high (1 year old laptop). The style of this game is very Korean (Elin is like full on Loli), but still with some western feel on some Characters (like Casatians), over all, being the graphic whore I am, I find the graphic pleasing.
2. Combat: The combat is smooth (smoother than C9, I deleted that game on day 2 >.>), I feel a bit laggy when I use my dodge moves, but it may be intentional to keep up the skill level. The hotkeys for this game is 1,2,3,4,5,6 and f1 to f6, LM, RM, C. Those are the hotkeys, too bad my laptop's F-keys don't work properly, good thing level 22 only offer enough skill to fill my 1 - 6 slot plus C, LM, RM lol. I need to shave some skill off the hotbar but that's a personal problem, you guys should be perfectly fine using skills. I don't know about Archers but from what I can tell by playing Sorc, the range spell require some aiming, it's not auto-aimed, which is pretty nice. (Give me a fighting chance during duel :P) Melee is pretty straight forward.
Oh and you can also duel people, so far only 1 v 1 duel, although there is a deathmatch option, it doesn't seem to do anything atm.
3. Items: There are blank, green and blue weapons so far. during the entire time I played, I only manage to get 1 blue item (my awesome broadsword that gives like 1000 extra amage to my old sword lol), I can't tell whether the item rarity will be tihs strict once the game is release though. You can craft items and material in game, it's a bit grindly, couple with gathering skills. I haven't found any enhancement mechanics (no weapon +1, +2, +3 an such), although on my glove it says (+1, gives bonus 2 critical chance, +3, gives bonus 2 critical chance, +9, extra 1 str), so I wonder if they will add enhancement to the game when released, I think it's pertty cool they make it so enhanced items also gives special stats not just pure basic stats. Another reason why I am sure they will add enhancement is that one of the tip during loading screen says: "weapon +7 an above will glow). So yeah. Aside from enhancement and crafting, you also get to enchant items. Item enchantment in Tera uses crystals. There are special crystals you can either mine an craft or buy from crystal merchant. I myself didn't craft any crystal so I dono whether there will be a benefit to crafting your own crystal. You weapon and armor (just main body armor) will have crystal slots, you can then add crystals into those slots to enchant them. Crystals do wear off, at least that's what I think, my weapons and armors lose 1 or 2 crystals sometime, I can only assume they wore off.
4. Mount: Yes there will be mount, so far the only mount is a horse, which is hillarious to see a Papori riding one. It can be summon using a spell. To get from one Area to another however you use the Pegasus system, it's pretty damn cool riding one, kind of like riding a plane.

(Warp drive full speed! Aye Captain!)
For within area you can use teleportal or teleport masters. Teleportals usually take you to a specific questing location.
And yes both teleport system and pegasus system cost money, pegasus system cost a bit more I think, but it's reasonable.
5. Boss an Dungeons: Early game fights are not hard at all, I soloed the first boss in beginner area that's suppose to take 5 people to beat. But around level 20 you start to feel the heat, got my ass kick repeatly trying to fight monsters alone (not regular, just really big 5 men hero monsters). Bastion which is the level 20 dungeon is harrrd, well himself is not that hard (we had healer so we were good), but every dinky minion in that place takes like ages to kill.
6. Class & Race: Race do give racial bonus, for example, I believe Elin and papori get to avoid monster agro at cost of their movement speed, they swim faster than the other races and they get to run faster for 3 mins every 30 mins. I forgot what's Casataians' special skills, I think it's faster running speed, attack speed increase when attack from behind and whatnot). Other than that there are no difference between races, as far as I can tell all races can be all classes. Current class consist of Slayer, Berserker, Lancer, Warrior, Archer, Sorc, Priest and Mystic, think those are it. Slayer as far as I can tell doesn't really excel at anything, they are great in pvp but their damage output is moderate and they can't tank. They are great with knowdowns and stun though. Sorc is full on damage mage, you can not go more burst than Sorc. Lance is the tanking class with highest defense, I am think warriors are duel sword fast class like Lann in vindictus. Mystics can summon, I don't really see their role though, Priest can heal obv, Berserkers are the higest burst damage melee but slower than rest. Archer is great single target dps.
Story: I skipped through it :P It's just text, plus the whole background story is cliche plus boring, about 2 titans ran away and created this world, now evil stuffs are invading. There is no real storyline as far as I can tell, you are just oing errands. If you are looking for plot, you will have better luck playing SWTOR.
Conclusion: I love it, this game is great, I recommend it to people who loves fast paced action MMO, but if you are looking for story, you should probably save your money for some other game.
Feel free to ask any questions, I will do my best to answer them.

Oh, I hate this kind of fake difficulty
so much. Just make the game harder and making dodging perfectly responsive, developers.

Real money?

no in game gold lol.
And tbh, none of the class as far as I can tell have like full on speed attack anyway, so during pvp a bit lag in dodge lis fine, if you see the attack coming you can probably dodge it. The real problem in pvp is getting range characters with my melee weapon >.<. The dash move is really inaccurate, sometime I charge in the other direction while enemy pass by like wtf lol. Plus warrior's mana system is like D3 barbarian, you need to hit with normal attack to charge your mana. There are skills that gives you mana from the get go, but those amount are small and cooldown is not short enough.
As for PvE, I got to be honest, during the whole time in the boss fight, I almost didn't dodge, because A: 5 people on screen unleashing hell drop my fps own to like 5 and there really isn't a need to, if boss is oing a big move, their eye/eyes will flash red, so it's a warning, and even if you get hit, as long as your party have a healer you are golden.
RebeccaBlack wrote on 2012-02-20 04:42
Oh. I don't mind that.
Just wish the dodging mechanics weren't laggy. I think Vindictus did an excellent job with controls. All of the classes feel fun and natural except for Fiona, with her stupid roll and guard buttons.

They didn't have the hi-res textures in the US beta. What size was your client?

I think there's 5 tiers of items, but at any rate, enhancement was in beta. White EQ can't be enhanced either, only select blue/green+.
The crystals don't wear off, they have a chance to break if you die. You can eq/remove them as often as you want and keep them permanently provided you aren't killed.
6. Class: Current class consist of Slayer, Berserker, Lancer, Warrior, Archer, Sorc, Priest and Mystic, think those are it. Slayers are a melee dps class. They're considered the #1 pick for pvp and have enough cc to solo many BAMS more easily than most.
Lancers are tanks, but their shining glory is their shield. They can block 100% of frontal damage as long as it's up.
Warriors are evasion tanks. They deal good damage and have the highest hp pool while wearing light armor and possessing tons of dodges.
Mystics are secondary healers/buffers/debuffers, while Priests focus more on healing. Interestingly enough, Priests don't get a spell that heals themselves until like lvl 12. The mystic has an AoE sleep while the Priest has a single target variant.
Sorcs are indeed magic dps. They can also poison and have a slowing trap.
Archers are of course, ranged dps. They also have a wide array of traps/poisons. It's really hard to aim with them and you do less damage the further you are away, so they have a lot of tools to keep them close enough to hurt but far enough to be safe.
Berserkers start off with a slow, insanely powerful AoE spin. Next they get a hard hitting knockdown and finally a quick, low cooldown, high crit nuke. They're all about melee burst and knockdowns. Be warned though, they also have a block. It blocks all damage up to a maximum determined by their weapon, but players will have a hard time getting through it...better to just walk to the side since it costs 100 mana and they're a mana decay class.

There actually are cutscenes, and the text is well done. The story released in beta isn't much, but if you look at where KR is at, it becomes very interesting. Probably even moreso if you understand korean >_>

Well mine is the Europe version so I am not sure, but it took over 40 gig that's for sure I was surprised my drive space didn't hold for the download.
And yes there are cutscene in beta also but they still seem rather irrelevent, I will take your word that the story gets better though. But overall plots aren't that big a flaw for me because the gameplay itself is pretty fun as it is.

Second NA Beta is starting this friday. They're adding a pvp server (which I'm moving to) and bumping the lvl cap to 27. Is anyone else going to be playing?
