I attended a junior assembly the other day, and the counselors were telling us how we can have a free 1st or 6th period. Then, they said that having 5 classes is bad, and so is TA-ing. I asked a friend about it, and he kept shaking his head and telling me not to do it :( I don't see a problem with TA-ing, why does it look bad? @_@

TA= Teacher's Assistant? :what:
If so, I don't think that's bad. I'm sure it's better than having a free period; I would have loved to have been a teacher's assistant.
I think it would be especially appropriate to do if you want to major/do something with Education.

Sorry! Yeah, TA = Teacher's Assistant. You help a teacher out with grading papers, errands, etc., but some teachers are chill and don't make you do anything :D

Teacher assistant...
basically it's where you help a teacher grade papers and do menial tasks like printing and cutting up etc.
TA is considered bad because it's technically child labor for free
Usually its lazy people who don't want to take a class and would rather spend their time doing manual labor

TA-ing seems like an advantage for people that drop out their classes though, so they can get credits an alternative way, but I don't get what would be wrong or see what's bad about it at all.
Free child labor? Unless the teacher's sending them on errands like...Go fetch coffee or something from the store?

just saying, colleges would prefer an actual class unless if you have good reason for not taking that many classes
like a really strong extracurricular that's freakishly time consuming and amazing or something

well
how important is dance team to you?
Do you enjoy it?
How does dance team affect you as a person?
this thought process makes it easier to write those essays for college applications

Just go TA-ing on the last semester before you go to college. Just relax, and have some fun.

These days it's all about the extracurricular activities you have outside school. Grades and SATs are still important but they're a dime a dozen. They are looking for students that will help diversify the student body. You should mention it if you can in your college app, or even essay if it's required. And tell them how you've grown as a person because of your time in dance and how the things you've learned would translate into practical skills.
You're part of a dance crew?!? Do you guys throw down in the street like in the movies?!?
