  The nation is actually almost its own continent outside of Europe and Asia. But if we're counting only 7 continents, Russia is considered being in Asia, and would be by that classification, Asian.

  Different cultures have different lifestyles, sure. It's not like it's any different elsewhere in the world.
  
  If you want a specific way of separating yourself from other people, go ahead, but I don't see how it could really be offensive to anyone. Then again, I don't like to separate Indians and Asians either, and things like that. If someone thinks all Asians are Chinese, that's their problem and is unrelated to the naming issue. They just don't know what they're talking about.
