The guy has probably never seen "
Waiting...", because I guarantee you that now that if he ever does go back to that restaurant, that scenario is very likely going to happen to him. Though lucky for him, his face wasn't posted in the video, and the blog about him was taken down, so no one else knows what his face looks like. Sanitary? No. Likely that he'll take them to court and win? Very. But I guarantee you that every person that waits on him will probably seriously consider it. That movie does teach you a very valuable lesson in life, and that is "Don't fuck with people who handle your food." So it's probably wise to tip them, even if the likelihood of your food going through some added "seasoning" is extremely slim. Call it paranoia if you must. :V

I really cant see myself adding such "extra seasoning" to foods. If I do, I may see myself down to their level (also getting the company in trouble). As harsh as it sounds, I suck up to my troubles.
But I try to give them their bill and get them out 8D

Quote from TA;789368:
You don't have to tip. That's why it's called a fucking tip. These people get their panties in too much of a bunch over their tips. The problem is their employers not paying them enough so that they need the tips to even make minimum wage, but that's another problem...
I mean, someone else had to work for their money that they're paying to have their meal. You're getting paid to do your job of serving them the meal. A tip is supposed to be if they enjoyed your service to them. If they didn't, why the fuck should you get a tip?
Greedy ass spoiled people nowadays, I tell ya...
This.
If you don't like what you're being paid, work in retail or something. Random people shouldn't have to compensate for your employer giving you shitty pay. Or better yet, just add the tip to the food if it's going to be mandatory. It's not like we'll know the difference anyway.

I don't think it's so much about expecting a supplement to your wages so much as it is about manners and expected to be treated properly.
Just because somebody works in what you think is a shitty or dead-end job doesn't mean you can be rude to them.

Tipping does add some advantage to places that pay minimum wage (depending on how good the restaurant is) not including benefits some jobs give. Sometimes I think to my self "damn this was good food... I want to tip the chef instead..." some places don't split tips~

The second line is true.
The first one isn't. Manners and expecting to be treated properly? I'll say please and thank you, be a nice person to them, and pay the bill. That's as far as it goes. I'm not required to feel bad for them and donate extra money just because they took on a job with shitty pay.

Using the "if you don't like what you're paid get another job" is useless. If they could get a better job, why would they work at a crappy job in the first place? The answer is simple; they wouldn't. People seriously need to stop undermining how difficult it is to get a job simply because they've never had the problem.

Ugh, whatever. I honestly think it would be a lot harder to get a job as a waitress than it would to get one in retail/fast food/etc, but meh, I don't want to want to go into detail. What it basically comes down to is that it isn't down to random people to compensate for shitty wages. It's a shame they're in a bad position, but we don't owe them money because of it.

I think the US's standards on tipping aren't right at all, but that's besides the point. The banker was downright insulting. A 1% tip is insulting in itself, but the "Get a real job" is atrocious.
To be honest, I think you'll find bankers are taken less seriously these days than waiters/waitresses are.

I once didn't tip and the waiter chased me down like 3 blocks and threatened me.

Exactly, that's what the problem is here, he's acting as if being a banker is easy and the only people capable of being rich and successful are people like him. And of course if you aren't rich or have a good job like him you must be an idiot. The tip was one thing, it could have ended with the waiter saying something bad about the banker to her friends and that would be it. But he had to add that he had a better job than her (And how old is this guy? If he's over 30...no 10 years old, he should act a little mature.)

I do hope you're exaggeration, 3 blocks is pretty long, especially when you're being chased by a waiter.

I left the restaurant and walked a solid 6 minutes when the guy jumped out behind me freaking out that I didn't give him like 4 dollars worth of tip. He asked me if I was shitting him or something and looked like he would've taken the money out of my wallet if I had refused.
I could've kicked him in the shin and then punched him in the face but I'm a pacifist and it didn't seem worth the trouble so I gave him a few dollars.

I would have loved to see what would happen if you fought him and the cops arrived, maybe something like this:
Cop-What's going on?
You-This guy flipped out on me!
Waiter-He didn't tip me!
Cop-Why didn't you give him a tip? Called common courtesy jerk.
You- You're missing the point... :fail3:

The problem isn't with the tip. If you and TA are missing that, you should really work on your people skills.
