Didn't play all summer, so I dropped to gold 4. Had a nice little ~3 day journey back to plat...but honestly, the game seems more fun in gold. Less rage, more laughs.

Leona went in really early when there were about 2 waves of creeps stacked against us and lost lane for us early, then riot servers dc'd her our jungler and toplane for 7 minutes, and then our midlane dc'd after they all came back, the enemy team wasn't touched by the dc waves, we ended up losing the game, but oh well, still farmed like a beast for being so damn behind

SKT is shitting on everyone at worlds, and Faker has absolutely secured his position as a god of league of legends.

This guy has been doing the impossible for so long now, everyone in Korea hyped him up to be an unstoppable monster, and he's been meeting those expectations throughout the entire championships.
Ever since coming to America he's been wrecking NA soloQ ladder too. They should create a new league placement above challengers for him.

Good lord... We won a dominion game 3 v 5... That's actually harder than winning a rift game 3 v 5 because we are severally undermanned in term of capture points and death means less in dominion so getting kills are not even as effective... This is probably one of my greatest achievements in my LoL career.

Learn roles and champions. Top, Mid, ADC. You wont see much dedicated supporting or jungling until you level up a bit, but it is good to know how they work.
All classes except the jungler and the support (so anything you'll end up playing really), will need to cs (last hitting minions). This is one of the most important things in the game. Practice and make sure your last hitting is accurate so you are not missing minions. Minions are a limited resource allocated by the game by time passed. For every minion you miss to kill, you miss out on catching some raining gold.
League is a big game so I can' go into details of everything infinitely forever. For now, just work on getting used to character controls and missing as little minion kills in your lane as possible. For a thousand good reasons (I mean it!), you should usually avoid spamming attacks on minions. Always wait until they are very low health and throw one auto attack to finish them off. If your last hitting accuracy is high without pushing your lane to the enemy towers, then you have the basics down. Half the game will come to you through experience. The other half you'll have to just straight up research.

Don't bother with runes until you get to the tier 3 runes.

Go on the League of Legends wiki and read through all of the champions and what their abilities are. My friend refused to do so and told me he would learn how champions work when he went up against them or played as them, which is incredibly stupid due to the giant disadvantage he's giving himself by not knowing what a champion can do. Knowledge is power. Also helps to read the items on the wiki and not in game so you have the time to see what each thing can do.

Tier 1 runes are cheap enough to fill up your page with until you unlock tier 3 runes. I think it is worth it. Chances are, even if you start buying tier 3 runes at level 20, you won't have enough IP to fill up your whole page when you get to level 30. Having some t1 runes will help out along the way.

^ this is important. Too many people still play this game without knowing the specific details of what champions can do, and it costs them dearly.
You get a rotation of free to play champions every Tuesday. ALWAYS try them all and get a feel for their mechanics. Read their tooltips to pick up on secondary effects of their skills. You'll improve so fast.
Improving in League is not always based on time played. I know a guy who played the game for 2 months, did ranked when hitting 30, got bronze, and climbed up to silver. That is already better than half the players in the game. All you have to do is pay attention, do some research, learn the details, and maybe watch some professional games.
Half the battle is having knowledge of the game, and you have never learned enough about it.

Another good way to learn (perhaps after learning the basics) is by watching the games that are currently going on.
I'm referring to the World Championship of Season 3.

You need a 4 years undergraduate program in League of Legends studies, then three years in Master program, then you need 4 years of League of Legends Summoner's rift internship before playing ranked. Good luck and have fun :D
