  Not much strategy in this game. Maybe some coordination on where your teammates should go, but that's really it. It's really just DOTA with moar characters and some other mechanics added in.

  In Ranked Games, games are like 'Draft Matches' in HoN.
  
  You can ban champions from use in your current game, and see what champions the other summoners are using, much like the actual DotA.

  Everyone can ban a limited amount of champions from the game. This affects BOTH teams, therefore high-tier champions are usually banned.
  
  What is most likely the banning phase - 1/1/1/1/1/1
  
  The 1st number is the team leader or creator, which gets to ban 1.
  All others get to ban one.
  Then, the leader bans one more champion.
  
  Then the picking phase (speaks for itself)
  
  You can choose any champion that isn't banned.
  
  
  
  Also, apparently, Ranked Games last longer than normal games.

  In LoL the team leader does all the banning. Bans go 1/2/1 for 4 total bans. Whoever got first ban picks second in a 1/2/2/2/2/1 fashion.
  
  The games are considerably different since you have to be well versed with various champion roles and be able to pick counters and overcome someone countering you. Wards are also used a lot more and everyone is generally awesome with whoever they're playing.

  I don't play them at the moment because, well, I hate solo queue. I don't trust it, but I imagine with a partner it would be somewhat better.
  So cool, I'm happy to duo queue some time.
