Shockwave uses 10% of your maximum mana, not current, at rank 1. With a 25 second cooldown now and the chance to just ditch that cooldown after being hit, this thing will eat your MP if you use it often for simple and extreamly fast AoE dmg.
Thunder and Fireball now charge faster and the latter lands faster too.
Hailstorm charges up faster and lasts a full 10 seconds longer (don’t know if this actually wears away more mana, I’m just assuming it does.)
Ice Spear can be used in party play now.
Fusion bolt was buffed so now you’ll be using bolts more often that while they don’t eat too much MP, still can go through it at a decent rate.
The new Adv Lightning magic uses 60mp at rank 1 (granted that is very justified)
And while this is 50% Mp back at rank 1 every 3 minutes, that’s not all that much. If you’re going to complain about this, I don’t understand why you aren’t complaining about the snap cast cooldown being changed to 1min at rank 1.
Also…80 stamina per 30 seconds? That’s NOTHING compared to mages. You can’t even be serious with that statement… I refuse to believe that you are being serious when you say that. A single fireball full charge uses more mana than that in 20 seconds (less time after this update)
Let’s look at every spell and see how many go past 80mp or break even at 30 seconds of use. (going to deduct 5 seconds from this for the time to fire the spells, etc. All using Humans btw)
Firebolt: 80mp with 25 seconds of use.
Ice bolt: 75 (healing 25mp total after the update)
Lightning Bolt: 87.5mp
Fireball: A single use takes 20 seconds and costs 100mp (less time later)
Thunder: 25 seconds of thunder will get you 2 full charges, so 192mp
Ice Spear: 25 seconds of IS will get you 7 charges so 182mp
Hailstorm: You won’t get a full hailstorm out of 25 seconds, but you will get a grand total from those 25 seconds of 124mp
You also can’t use the excuse “Well you can just make MP pots on your off time†Because not everyone is going to do that. We can buy them though if people are selling. The same thing can be said to anyone complaining about SP.
And lastly, with all the changes and buffs to defense and protection with heavy and light armor and shields…. Who in the unholy hell of Mabinogi uses Mana shield to actually take hits on anything that isn’t already going to just kill their entire MP pool in 3 hits?[/SPOILER]
That said… Here comes some change ideas~
Mana shield is no longer a toggle on or off skill (Well actually yes, it still is but it’s different.). Instead now it requires a free hand (unless using a staff) Your mana is formed into an actual shield (medium in size past rank 9, small on all other ranks prior) base 3 defense and 2 protection with 4 magic defense and 4 magic protection. While using a staff, a shield floats in front of you giving you only the passive small or medium sized shield defenses (with the magic prot/def still) so you’re not losing much in the way of def/prot. The skill will use, at rank 1, 25mp per hit while at rank F it will use 5mp per hit. Using defense will reduce the mp cost by 1 at all ranks. Charging with the shield will cost 5mp at all ranks. Running out of mp shatters the shield, dealing 10-40 physical dmg to the target that shattered it and stuns the target for 1 second. (must be a melee hit)
Bash cooldown increased to 1.5 seconds at all ranks.
