As every one said, Range tab. New skill : Arrow rain. I know it's a classic, but I find it really awesome.
Two specialization for sword : one for european-style weapon and one for oriental. Unsheath attack, and a shealthing dash for the katana (Sorry, my english is very weak. I basically mean a dash-through your opponent that is so quick that the damage is made once you shealth back your weapon after the dash.). Add sheath as a secondary weapon for katana, required to use katana skills.
Specialize counter for a sheath block -> sword strike for katana, and a fence counter. Fence skill : sword rain, something like in the Tales of serie =D

I wonder why DevCat never invented such a skill. Charging into your enemies could be very useful, maybe even potentially lowering range damage while using a shield.

How about we not add more wind/lightning magic skills, and instead add an actually new element. Earth/Stone.
Since it's a mix of other elements, earth spells may be used regardless of the weapon used. However, some effects in the skills may change depending on the element of the weapon in use (including charged staffs).
Skills would include things like creating a gravitic sphere that draws enemies toward it or causing a sandstorm that slows enemies, and has a chance of blinding them. It could even be taken as far as adding a time-related skill. The focus of these skills would probably be more on crowd control or offensive support than damage.
