The director is really trying to kill the game for majority of the players.
By that, do you mean the free2play players or the Lann players? Or both?

You do realize that even I'm sitting at 14.6k Att, and I don't personally know anyone who has over 15k. And this is with a +10 Double r9 Hammer. I have a +12 double r9 Sword which isn't even 15k.
It screws over a lot of people who do pay money too. Since by my calculations, it takes about a +13/14 Lv. 60 Weapon or a +11/12 Lv. 70 Weapon. So unless you have a 1b weapon, you're going to have plenty of fun trying to do things.
And even with a +13, you're barely even there. You could sacrifice a ton of Def and run a pure Raider's set for Att (I can get to around 15.5k if I drop about 3k Def), but then you're going to be one shotted by everything.
So it screws over anyone who isn't an exceedingly stacked character.

And it sounds like exceedingly stacked characters aren't even doing that well.

Well that too, but there's a huge difference between not doing that well versus being downright impossible to do the boss.
Regardless, it's still absurd. They're actually making stacking mandatory while trying to make stacking less valuable.

The best solution is just to put a defense cap instead of this situation if they were going to do this.
-

There was a defense cap before around the release of Episode 8.
But a defense cap makes defense essentially useless, considering the cap was the monster's ATT that was hitting you (and most raid bosses only have something in the 7.2k range). That made multiple Sentinels basically worthless, and Paladin being a completely useless trans in comparison to DK.
If they put a defense cap above the monster's ATT, then there's way too much arbitration going on there due to how damage calculations are done. Even just 1k DEF above a monster's ATT significantly reduces damage (against a boss like Thor, 8.5k makes him tickle). And if it were as low as 1k above monster ATT... Paladin would be completely useless once again.

Paladin has always been kinda useless. >.>

Not really.
If you're in a full party and everyone transes at the same time, Paladin is just as good as Dark Knight because the Paladins will be stealing free stamina from the Dark Knights.

Pretty sure Dark Knights also have other unique advantages like more balance in second trans and things like that. Fissure is also a big one. Technically, that doesn't mean they're "useless", but comparatively, I'd at least call them suboptimal considering you can pick whatever you want and they both serve basically the same purpose.
When we're getting hit by things with 12K attack, then Paladin might have a place when combined with defense stacking.

Or you could just have it all the time as a Dark Knight, and not be held back by the buff wearing out.
I'm serious though, I've always found Dark Knight to trump Paladin in almost every field.

I actually don't mind, since when the buff expires and is reapplied, I get the 150 Stamina added to my current stamina as well. So it actually benefits the Paladins more in that scenario.
Fissure and Conviction are both good tools. Fissure has more overall benefits, but Conviction has it's fair share of uses as it gives you invincibility frames instead of freezing the boss.
While DK may be better overall, it's not significant enough to make or break a character. If we use these 16k Att boats as an example, Paladin is already enough to give you about 18k Att, which is just about capped on the 8k Def bosses. The extra attack from a DK just becomes excessive and you're really only getting the Balance from your later skills.
Sure it's way better if we're comparing people with 13k Att, but then the issue here is that S2 is virtually impossible if you "only" have 13k Att.

Quote from AFKalmighty:
There are hardly any season 2 boats around with everyone just running the old season 1 battles so I had a hard time finding a Crescent Island run.
I managed to join a 15k party with exquisite stimulants required. The party members consisted of me, two staff evies and a kai. This later turned out to be a great setup.
The boss difficulties aren’t balanced among each other in a sense that for half of the bosses 15k is overkill [of course, under the assumption that the party members are at least those who know what they’re doing] if you have plenty of ranged characters in the party and that 15k with trans is not enough to pull through Chieftess Kieru. And as a full melee party you’re screwed either way unless your party is filled with experienced players or have 16k gear, preferably both.
The reason people are complaining about the excessive damage and insane speed is not because ‘I CANT BEAT IT QQ’. We can beat it alright. The problem is [something that I will continuously mention again and again] that for lame mechanics comes lame solutions.
Before I go deeper let’s go over a quick roundup of each boss. I didn’t record the run because the game is already crashing frequently as it is and I had no intention of heightening the risk...Read More

Wow. They were on that thing doing full trans dps, and still almost died at the end.
