  The "religion caused wars" argument tends to be irrelevant since it was just used as an excuse. People just get manipulated easily by anything and everything, and religion was the tool used in those wars to control people. There are many other things that can simply replace religion to cause wars if they took it out of the picture.

  Whether it's religious nuts trying to tailor make a belief system or some other person picking random, out of context lines to bash religious people with; I just find it very frustrating.

  Alot of places do not even allow civil union or deman it to a lower status then marriage legally
  The federal government by the books cannot even acknowledge civil unions
  Many states dont even give civil unions rights

  this made me cry too, which is bad because my eyelid is swollen so its painful. But people are just so stupid. At the very least, it seems that we are progressing. The internet is making things much more open, opinions can truely not be censored here. If your comment is deleated, then simply post it somewhere else, in a community that is more open. If the goverement takes down one site, thousands more will spring up in minutes.
  
  It also seems that we have made a lot more progress in the recent years, people are much more receptive to the idea of same sex marriage. My cousin for example, visits with her wife and adopted son and my mom loves when they visit. She doesn't go crazy when she takes my little sisters out fishing or something, and our family as a whole is generally receptive to the idea. If for example, my brother told my mom he liked men, I can say for sure that my mom will be completely fine and supportive.
