Somehow, while I enjoyed the series as a whole, why did it feel like a deus ex machina was used when Korra gained the ability to undo what Noatak's blood bending. And man, hearing Zuko's voice threw me off hard. Didn't see that coming

I wasn't mad that Asami didn't get even with Mako, just that he was such an insensitive jerk the whole time. I guess, after his debut, I should have seen that coming.
And yeah, there was a lot of 'huh, what' in the finale...almost as if they hadn't planned to wrap every plot thread up at the end of the first season.

I seriously think that Noatak (Amon) is HOT, like holy fuck, when the red paint got washed off and everything I was like "HOT DAMN". But yeah I'm pretty sure Noatak is not dead, maybe his brother died but I don't think they would kill off Amon so quickly and easily he'll probably be back like, as a plot twist.

inb4 he comes back with and actual scar
The feels.
It was pretty clear that Amon and Tarrlok had history, so it's nice to finally see the reveal.
Mako is less of a jerk but he still rubs me the wrong way, and now I know how it feels to not like canon. I'm still not into the whole Makorra thing.
It was expected that Korra would either airbend or go into the avatar state and both ended up happening...Mostly what I was expecting was Aang teaching her some way of unlocking people's bending since he already knew how to take people's bending away.
The moment with the two brothers on the boat made me sad. It's pretty clear they both knew the weight of what was going to happen then.
Asami with her father was sad. It doesn't even seem like he loves her enough to stop himself. This poor girl and the men in her life, jeez.
Well, Bumi's amazing, at least.
And Lin Bei Fong has her bending back. She deserves it ;;
Some things, although cool, felt a little sudden. All in all, I had some problems with the ending but I still enjoyed it a lot.

So,I'm wondering if Asami will get that entire FACTORY OF EQUALIST WEAPONS destroyed or whatever...I don't imagine that'd just be ignored.
Also,as many people (elsewhere) have pointed out,Bolin seriously needs a master to teach him more earthbending skills. He has the right amount of gusto and will-power,imo. So he should have no problem advancing a bit...
Toph coulda probably mopped the floor with him the same way she whupped 'The Boulder',even at her young age. :chin: ...not that I should compare the two.
this all comes to mind because...
Of the moment in the last episode or so,when Asami,Bolin and the General were all locked up in that cell...
When the General asked Bolin if he could metalbend and he basically made a 'derp' face,I was like...*facepalm* 'You're kidding me...'.
But yeah....with her bending restored,Bei Fong should definitely train Bolin.:thumb:
^That reminds me...
One thing that bothered me about this show is that the adults felt so much more relevant than the kids, as well as easier to relate to. What was Korra's character arc? From hothead to occasionally very scared hothead who still barges in without a plan?
Also, why did the airbenders get captured? How? Not only that, but they get captured and then they get away so easily, so how did they get captured in the first place. This put a dent in Lin's moment for me. It had felt so meaningful then this happened. Agh!
I felt the same way.
Quote from Kueh;894094:
Also, I smelled a lot of "just because" going on during those episodes. Oh the hobo somehow knows how to send secret telegrams. Just because. Sato somehow intercepted a telegram. Just because. (Also defeating the purpose of letting the hobo telegraph, but whatever.) Amon captured Tenzin and his family DESPITE Lin's heart wretching sacrifice just one episode earlier. Just because.

Korra going into the avatar state despite lacking evidence that she has changed/gotten in touch with her spiritual side. Not only that, but it works differently than it did in ATLA. Aang wasn't always at is "lowest point" when he went into the avatar state. It happened because he was in mortal danger or a bad emotional state, and Korra was in real danger often enough. >>
I dunno. That moment at the end just didn't feel right or completely deserved. The adults are what made the show for me. It's like the show hinges on nostalgia.

Agreed I felt like a more fitting ending would be that Aang would appear but not give her bending back, and just tell her that she needs to master all three elements again. So basically she only knows airbending but will have to learn fire, water, and earth all over again. Or she could try to become more spiritual in the second season then Aang will give her bending back when she reaches the Avatar state, she had no character change whatsoever, I disliked the fact that she airbended to protect someone, airbending is supposed to be going with the flow and peace and all that jazz. The ending was rushed no doubt. ALSO, giving everyone's bending back was such a terrible ending, as much as I love Lin Beifong, maybe show how some benders who got their bending taken away are cooping with the situation? Would make a nice filler or two and a really good side-story. :l

I just assumed that, by blocking Korra's physical bending aspects, he unlocked her spiritual side, much like wearing a blindfold can make your hearing seem more acute. Not only was she able to airbend, but she was able to contact the other avatars.
Juno wrote on 2012-07-05 04:50
As Aang said, she was able to call on the other avatars not just because she was at her lowest state, but because in that state she was most open to change. Before, she wasn't able to contact them because she just kept trying to brute force it, like with her air-bending training.
Not to say that many elements of the finale didn't feel rushed...
Ugh! This!
I feel like they could have had at least three or four episodes of filler fighting while the city was occupied. They wouldn't even have been bad fillers, since they would have given us the time to let things steep, both plotwise and emotionally/
You say this like the creators knew they were getting a second season. I think having her relearn the elements is dumb. She already knows how to bend the other elements, she was just unable to. Just like how she knew the airbending forms, but she couldn't airbend because of her block.
Personally, I'm excited to see a story about a fully realized avatar. Enough avatar-in-training stuff.
Airbending to protect someone? Sounds a lot like Aang.
Giving people their bending back is kind of what the Avatar should do. She is restoring the balance that was upset by Amon taking people's bending away.
