But there's already a Skype group... Did you not add Episkey?
No no. She did add me - just an oversight on my part.
My apologies, Mythical Detective Loki.
Quote from Shanghai;937093:
Party-wise, we have a Swordmage, Paladin, and a unconfirmed thief right now.
Actually - the Thief is just a second character being created by the same person.
I could write down a list of classes we have, but - I honestly can't recall them all right now.
In any case, I'm sure we will have enough of a party balance. If not - the monsters will be adjusted to accompany the roles the party currently has.

Yes indeed.
Well everyone, I have some good news! All 10 players have currently joined the Dungeons and Dragons group Skype chat.
The next task is to finish up Character Creation and get a weekly schedule from every participant player. Then we can start separating our group of 10 into two groups of 5 based on availability.
To summarize:
- I now need everyone's weekly schedule of when they are available to play.
- Next is to finish creating your character, creating a backstory, and then creating your MapTools Token.
- After everyone is done or nearly finished, a starting date for the game can be ... well .. started!

Sun: Usually after 4PM, 7PM guaranteed
Mon: Usually after 4PM
Tue: Day off
Wed: Usually after 3PM
Thur: Usually after 4PM
Fri: Day off
Sat: Usually after 4PM, though the last/first Saturday of every month I most likely won't be available due to having to do inventory. When it is depends on the month, so I'll let you know ahead of time in the Skype chat

Weekdays, I only get home at around 8pm mountain time. That's 10pm eastern.
Weekends, I'm generally free.
Note: This week is a terribad week for me, and this weekend I will likely be mostly busy.

I'm a busy mofo.
Between now and September 4th:
Mon-Thurs: lol i don't even but since most people are at work, night-time. mondays and tuesday nights are busy from 9PM onwards and from 8-9PM respectively.
Fri: nighttime.
Sat: I'm gone on Saturday 9/1.
Sun: Probably a no. Football and all.
After September 4th:
Mon-Thurs: lol don't even bother
Fri: After 8PM, some nights possibly after 7
Sat: Free at night, anytime after 7-7:30 works best. Late afternoon and evenings are okay but I have to have a break for dinner in between. So if we were playing 4-8 i'd be gone likely from 6 to 7.
Sun: NOPE NOPE NOPE FOOTBALL (in all seriousness I am plastered to my TV from 12-9)
now that I think about it, my schedule isn't really flexible (that's EST, btw)

Reposting my skype post about comparing damage, both for those who haven't seen it, and so those who need to reference it don't need to sift through the log.
Telling which does more damage when the dice's magnitudes are the same is easy, but how do you tell when one of a set of different roll types is better than the other?
Suppose you have a choice between two powers, one lets you roll 1d10 damage and one lets you roll 2d4. How do you know which one will give you more damage in the long run?
First, you list all the different possible rolls. For the 1d10, it's easy, it's just 1 through 10. For the 2d4, you have to do each possible roll, so there will be two 3's, because you can have die 1 show one and die 2 show two, or die 1 show two, and die 2 show one.
Second, you both count the number of entries and add them up, so that you have two numbers for each roll type, the sum and the order (the amount of different possible rolls).
Lastly, you multiply one die's sum by the OTHER die's order, and that number will be a relative measure between the two of which rolls higher, if you rolled forever.
So for 1d10 vs 2d4, you have a sum of 55, and an order of ten for 1d10, and a sum of 80, and an order of 16 for the 2d4.
1d10's score = 55 * 16 = 880
2d4's score = 80 * 10 = 800
So, 1d10 will give you more damage over a fight than 2d4.

Wow, this is turning into something big. So many things to be done.
As a little status update - I've been collecting and finalizing the game schedule.
As of right now, we have ten players. Meaning that there will be two groups of five.
Each group will have a weekly three-hour timeslot to play the D&D game. There will of course be breaks and the session may not run for the entire three hours, but that should be enough of an indicator of a general time-frame.
Expect a new post when I confirm the times with everyone.~
P.S
As an added note, please keep on working on your character backstory - if you have not finished. Feel free to message me if you want some direction in backstory creation. But I want to wrap all this preliminary stuff up soon.

Highly doubt it - I'll give an official starting date when I know for certain we can all begin.
There's a tutorial and such I want everyone to do beforehand as well, so yeah :D
