  So uh, it's totally fine that DevCat is now splitting their attention and development resources between THREE games, and the older games are the ones that get the short end of the stick when it comes to developer interest.
  
  I guess they feel they've made enough money from Mabinogi, now they can make grimdark hack and slash shit to appeal to the COD audience. That's how DevCat does things after all. Making games is just a wealth extraction opportunity. It just so happens that they actually *tried* with Mabi and caught lightning in the bottle, especially since I can't think of any other F2P sandbox-ish game on the market.

  No, that's an extremely limited view on what a "sequel" can be. What most people were expecting here is basically a Mabinogi clone. There's no point in doing that because Mabinogi keeps going. More storyline? More content? We already get that, they're called content updates. If Mabinogi is meant to continue running (as they said it would) then what's the point in rehashing it? What most people don't seem to get is that a Mabinogi II that is a Mabinogi clone (even if "better") simply doesn't make sense.

  A mabi overhaul would be fantastic. They'd need to overhaul a lot of things, but I'd love to see what it would look like.

  Devcat doesn't run a charity here, and mabi is old, almost 10 years old. They can keep updating it, but they also need to branch out and release new stuff. You sound very asspained for a game that doesn't affect yours, Mabi isn't going anywhere, and you've made very clear that Mabi 2 isn't for you.

  i could recognize a lot of similar elements:
  -a lot of identical skills (windmill, smash, crash shot)
  -passive defenses are present
  -owls delivers stuff
  -same style of dungeon (clear room of monster to get more room of monsters to get to boss), but without the boring part of corridors.
  -even tiro is there!

  If there's more to it than dungeon spam, then sure I can consider this game even if I probably won't play it more than a week.
  What I absolutely fucking hated about vindictus is that all you did was dungeons, and not only that but everything was level (AND quest) locked thus forcing you to grind said dungeons to get to more interesting ones. If this follows the same concept, with half-assed crafting systems tossed in later, then they better take the mabinogi name off of it right now.

  Yes? There's nothing saying that a developer can't tend to more than one game at once and I think you'll be hard pressed to actually show/quantify that doing so actually has any perceivable negative impact on any of the games. Especially seeing as Devcat has grown and likely will keep growing if business is good.
  
  And for all the praise about how brilliant Mabi is, financially it isn't. It hasn't done bad making $300 million for Nexon, but someone mentioned DFO earlier? That's made more and in less time. Other Nexon games have made similar amounts but then in less time so in the Nexon stable of large titles it's something of an underperformer.
  
  That and again, it's not like Mabinogi will stop. It will continue (or at least, that's the current word for now) alongside Heroes and Mabinogi II.

  This can be done with the current game if devcat/Nexon KR thought it was worth the time (spoilers, they probably don't). It doesn't require a "sequel" for this. Again, the whole point of Mabi 2 is to offer something different. IF people want a better Mabinogi then their best best is to try and garner support for it/pester devcat/Nexon KR for it. There was an article that stated that devcat would be at least tweaking the engine a bit for improved performance but that seems to have fallen through.

  If I was a Devcat, I wouldn't want to develop only the same game for 10+ years. Just sayin'. I like the graphic style of this game and the combat doesn't seem all too different from our current combat system. And keep in mind, this isn't even in Beta yet....
  
  Also, Vindictus is Mabinogi Heroes in KR, so Mabinogi 2 makes sense as a title.
