Apparently you can get banned for advertising IP-probe tools such as the server status display on the MWW or housing board on nation. Someone on the maplestory forums was threatoned with a ban if they keep using the IP-probes to check on the server status of maplestory.
Nexon's sure on full-hate-mode lately.

Probably all those stupid DDOS attacks that don't affect them.

You are wrong. The maplestory site has a public server status page, the person was threatened with a ban because he was giving people false hope, read the thread before you shout nonsense.
That server status page is ran by Nexon. The person was saying "ITS UP CAUSE ALL THE GREEN LIGHTS ARE ON" he was giving false hope and inciting rage towards nexon.
How do i know this, im on hiatus from mabi and i am resuming my mapletrash activities.
HOWEVER, i am quite annoyed they are allowed to talk about test server things when we are not.
Oh Hime...

We lost a guild member to a "data-mining" permaban. ;;
Indexu didn't get banned for data-mining if that's who you are talking about.

I'd find the other screenshot but meh ;;

I'm pretty sure Indexu confirmed multiple times that yes, they were banned for data mining.
But hey, it's not like Nexon would ever lie to cover their own asses, right?

They would never do that! How dare you say such a thing!

There is no such thing as hacks and glitches. It's all in your head....
In all seriousness, though, fishy things can go on within Nexon.
Especially if something like this holds true. I have to wonder about the people who
haven't been banned because they throw enough money at Nexon.

Togashi Yuuta wrote on 2012-12-25 19:34
If you paid primarily through PayPal, you are essentially untouchable, because if you get banned, you can chargeback via PayPal and start a dispute, and that turns into a shitstorm that Nexon doesn't want to deal with.
...which begs the question as to how airtight Nexon's ToS is. Nexon states that once you feed it your money, you have zero recourse. But if that's true, why are they scared to pick a fight with PayPal?
-
Murasaki wrote on 2012-12-25 20:54
I guess enough people buy with paypal that Nexon doesn't want to start issues with a major service that gets them a good chunk of their income. A lot of people have a harder time getting NX without paypal because of location issues.
I'm not sure that the interview is real but somehow it feels like it could make a whole lot of sense when considering how things have been going. Nexon's not exactly the portrait of perfection.

Nexon won't even let me use Paypal. I have satellite internet which means it has an automatic built in proxy that I can't do anything about, but Nexon sees it and assumes I'm trying to scam them.

I doubt Sabina would lie, people can't just assume data mining is the only reason why you get banned.

Well, there's your problem. It has already been proven she lies quite a lot.

She has every reason to lie for the sake of trying to keep up their already terrible public image, so why wouldn't she? Some people seem to refuse to admit that fact that Nexon is completely and utterly ludicrous and has banned plenty of innocent people before for either no reason. So no, it's not a leap to say that they banned people for just data mining.
If you want to suck up to Nexon, then by all means, go ahead. Just don't try and make others look bad because you don't want to admit that Nexon, like everybody else, has their moments to stupidity. (..which, sadly, is actually something they have a majority of the time)

Nexon has occasional moments of intelligence instead.
