  Aha, so that's your reasoning for why that would be a good type. Interesting, I'm not very good with the metagame portion of Pokemon zzzz.
  
  Grass is a tricky type due to all the weaknesses it has.
  
  Fire, Poison, Bug, Flying, Ice, Add Physic to this if it's grass/fighter. Ground wouldn't add any other weaknesses but would make ice more troubling and would increase water's effectiveness which would be bad for Rain Dance Teams.
  
  So actually there is more cons for doing Grass/Ground than Grass/Fighter now that I actually think about it.

  What would be your thoughts on a Fire/Ground starter? I've always thought Fire/Ground would be a good combination, but the only example I've seen of that combo so far has had a mediocre skillset. I mean, sure, Fire/Ground won't win any battles against Water, but then again... neither Fire nor Ground usually win battles against water individually, so it's kinda like "What are you gonna do? Make me deader?" On the other hand, while certain type advantages get neutralized (grass and ice for the most part), the type combination opens up a lot of new opportunities. If only it could be done right.

  Quad weakness to ground though? You could throw an Air Ballon on the Pokemon, but really it's bothersome to worry about the balloon getting popped these days. Although quad weaknesses aren't that bad if you take care of them, obviously if a Pokemon has a quad weakness they better be a glass cannon because having a quad weakness on a defensive Pokemon is not that great of an idea (although Ferroseed/Ferrothorn quad weakness to fire, it has a shit ton of resistances along with some quad resistance too).
  
  Having a quad weakness to rock is the worst since Stealth Rocks will basically take off 50% by switching it in. Which is why Charizard is in the NU tier. But man, choice scarf, modest, solar power in the sun Fire Blast by Charizard with max spec and max speed will OHKO a lot of things, along with most of the water types in the NU tier.

  I don't think Fire types aren't that bad, along with Grass types, especially in the sun, with the right abilities they can outspeed and deal more damage in the sun. Also, a lot of fire types have access to Morning Sun I believe so 66.7% heal in the sun isn't something to joke about. Especially on a bulky Arcanine.
  
  But yeah, have the starters typing not been officially released yet?

  Fire types are really hindered in Rain+SR, thought, they can be good if you play you cards right, or, use a non-fire type for fire attacks, like Stunktank.

  correct, you typically do not run Fire type pokemon for fire type attacks
  Ex. Latios with Hidden power Fire or Garchomp with Fire Blast
  
  Typically you need a ninetales or tyranitar when running fire types just to change the weather

  Only if they were Ice/Ground. Since Ice and Ground are super effective mortal enemies. It's possible you caught a ground type while they were Digging though. Earthquake and Magnitude deal double damage while diggers are in the underground phase of their Digging.
