I'm just gonna say this now, since I've really got nothing to lose at this point.
You guys did a fantastic job bumping a bunch of pretty much innocent people straight up to ban, skipping infraction entirely. Flaming anyone else before that would have just led to an infraction. But nope, because it was splat, straight to ban for a good chunk of people.
I also commend you on posting this after acting on it, thats essentially the same as making a new law and enforcing it at the exact same time someone was doing something they thought would be ok, and again, other people have spamed up bean rua and got just infractions, but nope, cause its me, straight to permaban. Those posts weren't even flaming, or hurting anyone at all, but nope, straight to permanent ban.
Gj mods.
Thats my 2 cents on it anyway, feel free to delete this post and ban this account too. I wont be using it again

Oizen does bring up a good point.
If I may pose this question to the mods (privately might be a better place, but i'm a bit out of it), what is it that makes this member different? As Hanna pointed out, other people have done the same thing (lots of spamming, generally aggravating the community, etc) in the past and have been disciplined, while the user many of us are having a hard time with has not. What is it that makes this situation different? Is it that the user in question doesn't seem to have the ability to troll and flame back and is therefore defenseless? Is it that it seems that the user is acting in a benign and harmless manner?
I can think of other users that have polarized the community like this in the past (although in a more directly offensive manner), and because of that they are no longer welcome here. In those times, we were warned, yes, and there were bans, but the person responsible for the incitement was banned as well.
What makes this person, this situation any different?

Intention.
-
Claudia wrote on 2013-02-21 05:02
Well, isn't the intention of flaming and trolling the same no matter how you slice it?
Edit: oh, misunderstood. But even if the user has no intention, or no negative intention, does that still make spam okay?
Stupid
Pointless
Annoying
I'm pretty sure people who are stupid and annoying would be banned pretty quickly if they kept acting that way repeatedly.

Do we really know his intention?

I've downright had a flame outrage thrown at me by someone here. Multiple topics all flaming me, violently too.
And that person who flamed the shit out of me is
still among us. I make a bunch of spam posts that contain no insults at all,
PERMANENT BAN. Please show me where the babying and favoritism isn't present here?
I really hope someone sees the problem here.

oizen please
you're not a squeaky-clean goody-goody two-shoes
I hope you're not fooling yourself behind those rose-colored glasses of yours

I'm pretty sure that people have been verbally warned multiple times for being dicks towards Splat, although my memory is shit so I really have no recollection of whether or not Oizen was among one of those warned.
You also have to keep in mind that prior warnings/infractions can contribute towards a permaban, which I'm assuming was the case in this situation.

Of course not.
I'm talking about consistancy. I'm an asshole lol.
But I refuse to think what I did is any where near as bad as what happened to me a couple of months ago.

I did manage to walk out of that 3 day ban with 12 infraction points, which is far beyond the regular amount.
I dont get how I get so many points (unexpiring) and a ban. Isnt it supposed to be one or the other?

RebeccaBlack wrote on 2013-02-21 05:11
I didn't even see that. In fact, I don't see a lot of what goes on. So really, there's no way for me to know about every incidence/ban.

Claudia wrote on 2013-02-21 05:13
I mean, permaban kinda makes sense in light of what's been going on and your past history.

I can't believe we're starting to lose long-time members over this.
I'm all in favor of a thread posting limit.

While I do agree that it's blatantly obvious that he isn't what we'd expect from an adult, aside from his thread making, he isn't really going out of his way to harass the community in any way, so while it is irritating most of the community, it's their own damn fault if they choose not to ignore his threads.
Now, if they were somehow forced to read his threads then yes, I can understand there being a big problem about it. But considering the fact that it's easy as shit to ignore 90% of the stuff that he posts, I honestly have no sympathy towards the people whining about him. Sure, he annoys me too, but I'm smart enough to realize that I can simply scroll past his threads, thereby avoiding any potential trouble reading one of his threads might cause. And if for some reason that isn't enough, one can just add him onto their ignore list in order to avoid any other posts he might make. (not counting quotes, but honestly, that's a minor inconvenience at best)
I just find it funny how some people on here are irritated by his childishness and.. oddness, yet they themselves are behaving like whiny, entitled brats who refuse to get off their asses and make an effort to avoid such a simple problem. C'mon now, folks. Enough with the temper tantrums.
Anything I have to say essentially goes along the lines of this post, so I'll just quote it instead. I'm sick and tired of people complaining about threads they can ignore so easily it's ridiculous. There's literally a
guide because we've had similar problems in the past. People's lack of self-control is utterly baffling.
As for the restriction of the amount of threads that can be made in Bean Rua, I'm all for it, not just because of this person, but because of others as well. I'm hoping it can be done, in some shape or form.

I know this may sound weird, but is there
any way for the ignore function to have a setting to completely remove the ignored person's threads from appearing for you?

Having been bullied in elementary school constantly, I was always told by the teachers to walk away, or ignore the bullies. However I soon found out, that no matter how fast I walked or ran, they followed me, they taunted and mocked me until I exploded and beat the crap out of all of them and made them bleed and cry. I sought my own justice, however I got punished as a result while the bullies ran free, and pursued me when they had another chance.
The moral is that, there is no walking away, sure you can ignore his threads, but he'll post everywhere and anywhere, in pm, in rua, in mabi talk, anywhere he can spam he will do it despite a thread restriction. The only solution is to stop that problem, the only way to do it is to ban him, but like everyone else has said, it's pointless to say that because it's apparently "our problem", and "our flaw", not his.

Unfortunately, I don't think there is. The advanced function only goes as far as hiding the person's posts.

The problem is, we're not talking about the person being bullied using the ignore function, we are talking about the
bullies using the ignore function. All we're asking is that the bullies, not...you know...bully. It's not like you're being asked to ignore some kind of attack on your person. You're not a victim in anything here. We're not banning someone who isn't breaking the rules, who isn't treating other people like shit, who isn't getting on their high horse and being judgmental of others.
