I know this may sound weird, but is there any way for the ignore function to have a setting to completely remove the ignored person's threads from appearing for you?
Are you on normal ignore or advanced?

I guess whichever is the default.
I've never used the ignore function until just lately.
I'm going to guess normal.
What's advanced?

Advanced hides the posts, but thread titles will still show up. There's no option to click to see the hidden posts. it's like they've been deleted. Only way to see posts form the person you blacklisted is to remove them from your blacklist again. Quoted things will show up, though, and if they were the last person to post in a thread, you'll see their name, too.

Advanced will make it so the persons post won't show up to you at all. You have no option to "view reply" like in normal mode.
To get to advanced go to:
Setting>General Settings> scroll down to Ignore function>click advanced>ok
Viola. It should now work so you don't see any of the posts.

Okay, there.
Well, it's better than before.
No way to let temptation get the better of me and click Show Post this way.
Thread titles would be super, but if it can't be done, it can't be helped.

As far as I know, they can't be done otherwise I'm sure Osay would've implemented it.

Quote from Hitaki;1036269:
What pisses me off just as much is the people who actually don't mind the guy and even try to defend him. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with sticking up for him considering his case, that's what it means to be a good person. The real problem is that you have to realize that regardless of his case, he's being a problem. Even if he's a special case, he's expected to follow the same norms as the rest of us. Obviously, he's not following those norms. That's why he's causing a social problem here. You know what the community here is like, you should know that things are better off without him around.
In my opinion it's both the staff and the community's fault that this has to be put out as a problem. The staff shouldn't have to babysit for a full grown man, regardless of his mental health, and the community shouldn't have to give him the attention he wants if they want him to stop.
You really misinterpret the intentions of those defending said person. They are
not defending him because they think he is doing the right thing. They are defending him because
other people are doing the wrong thing. These people may not like his posts or care about his post but it does
not give them the right to harass him. They certainly do not earn the right to take matters in their own hand, when people use their own sense of justice it defies the point of rules in the first place. Doing wrong to a wrong doer isn't always right.
I'm not 100% sure the person we're discussing is the person I have in mind, but I think I'm on the ball. I've seen people responding unnecessarily rude and harsh to his posts, not because he was doing anything wrong (he wasn't making a new thread. he wasn't asking a question that was already answered. he posted the right thing in the right place) but because it was
him posting. This is a real longshot, but I'm going to use Justin Bieber as an example. Some people hate Justin Bieber so much (for the stupidest reasons) and they will hate any song he makes before even hearing it, regardless of the quality, just because it is Justin Bieber. I don't think that's just.
Slightly offtopic:In society we give special priviledges to the disabled, sometimes nice parking spots, sometimes discount fairs, sometimes we let them on the plane first. Taxpayers give up millions of dollars to facilities they dont necessarily need. Why? Because we understand that most of the time they dont get a choice over how they were born and in the sake of fairness, would certainly feel more comfortable if the same special treatment was given to me if I was ever in the same position.
TLDR: You're right, in an ideal world the mods shouldn't have to babysit a grown man. In the same way
the mods shouldn't have to babysit the community because they can't handle one person and treat him with some leniency, but sadly, this is the case. There's more than one person not acting his age.
On a side note: I do believe that warnings and infractions should be given before any sort of ban.

I have to say, I'm in the middle on this argument. The person in question has angered me since he first joined, but after the first time I received an infraction due to responding to said person in a less-than-polite way, I immediately just set him to advanced ignore. It still angers me to look in Bean Rua and see half or more of the threads belong to him at times, but I know that if I try to say something, not only will it do nothing to deter him, but it can potentially cause me to be punished. I don't believe immediate bans are completely fair, but I respect the fact that this is only happening because the moderators have been driven to it, and not just because they can. Though the fact that some long-time members have already been temporarily and permanently banned does annoy me, because in a way, I see it as partially the fault of the person in question. That's just my prejudice towards said person speaking, though.

See, I'm not even sure why I got 3-day-ban'd. I've always been annoyed by this person from afar but kept my mouth shut and never said anything about it.
SO HOW DID THE MODS KNOW?! They need to stay out of my head. ;-;

My two cents.
You absolutely should not ban for flaming for a first offense under any circumstance.
People with certain neurological conditions do NOT understand the concept of jokes and insulting well.
For instance, i see people throwing around insults and jokes to each other and it is "ok", so it makes me feel like i should too, "if he can, so can i"
This is why i absolutely despise inside jokes because it is completely unfair and mind boggling to people with certain syndromes, and it BOTHERS me greatly that i could simply be misunderstood and be banned for doing absolutely nothing wrong (wrong on my end, not on your end)
So yeah, i do not like this at all because now i have to panic every time i post.
Not cool.
Also, if you have the intelligence to use a computer, you have the intelligence after being told over and over to tell from doing something right and doing something wrong, if you STILL don't get it, get off the computer, even with my social problems (I have tons) i can still do what is told if it is told bluntly to my face.
Someone needs to ask this person what neurological disorders they have if any.
Also don't beat around the bush when talking. Get to the point, dont dilly dally and fiddle with it.
The faster, the better.
Longer you wait, the more it will persist, TRUST ME.
No more two cents from me on this shit, getting too fucking annoying seeing this. (Ill probably end up saying something later anyway because, brain sucks)

I've flamed before, I've dealt with the consequences. You don't need to flame to make your point, it's not worth it anyway.
Yes the member in question is irritating, it boggles my mind as to how he thinks. But the point is he is acting within the rules. Those of you that are flaming him are not, which is the cause of the rule change. Yes, I agree that Nation would be better off without him, but there's nothing we can do.
I agree with Aubog on the first time flaming incident-ban. I got a chance and I'm thankful for it, I think everyone else should get one too. The rules do need to be reviewed in-terms of thread posting amounts. I had a thought that we just give him his own thread, and try to convince him to use that for all of his questions. It's unlikely that this will work and I'm unsure if its been tried already. But we've gotta give it a try.

I'm not sure which part that was directed at. But I hate it too, and it does occur a lot on this site.
