I mean, that's old news, and you have to be loaded to be able to enjoy the benefits of that.
But by all means, have fun throwing $300 down for a Wii U at the least. Then buying the game for $60. Did I mention that the superior Wii U controller for the game costs $50 dollars? Oh, let's not forget you still have to buy the game for the 3DS for $40, and if you're still picky about controls the Circle Pad pro costs another $20. Don't have a 3DS? That's around $170 at the least.

I bought the wiiu on release date, same with the 3ds, so I'm only putting down $100

So, the game's kinda been out for a while, and I caved in and bought a Wii U for it. Anyone else playing?

Got the 3DS one. Not sure how long I'll play since I'm not very good (though duel swords are fun to use and I do better with them than the lance) wonder if I should get a circle pad pro.

My brother's been playing without a circle pad pro, and when I gave him mine after switching to my Wii U he said it really helped him when it came to hunting Diablos or fighting underwater.

Currently on 3* Quests.... Got to fight a Barroth next.... just farming items atm.. using daggers and hammer,
My friend Evan is using Heavy Bow Gun
and other friend Rob is using Long Swords....
so yeah ... we all got the 3ds version Rob (longsword) is the furthest currently on *5 lol

Barroth was really easy with lance or switch axe.

They nerfed barroth so badly compared MHTri it made me sad. I'm using the hunting horn primarily with the longsword if I need to cut tails. 3ds version here.

I'll be honest, I haven't been progressing too quickly myself. I spent most of my time hunting for rare parts to complete armor sets (i.e. Lagi Plate back when I was low rank, Brachy gems for both my bow and my armor set). Currently only HR 4 right now when I should be at G-rank by now, but I'll get there. Only two more waves of quests to power through for it.

I'm an all around gunner here, switching between bows, light bgs, and heavy bgs. So far I'm just one quest away from my urgent quest to reach G-rank quests. Getting pretty excited to finally get to hunt for my G-rank Zinogre armor.
Also on a side note, it's very much worth it to do any quests that have "[Canteen]" labeled with them. They upgrade the food that you eat upon completing them (or at least I believe that's the case).

I want to get it but I'm out a couple thousand dollars out and I'd have to buy the 3DS/WiiU as well. Leaning towards the 3DS for the possibility of MH4 in future.
Regardless I'm playing Tri to "prepare" :B

By the time MH4 gets released in NA/Wherever you live you'd have got the money to buy a 3ds if you chose to go with the wiiU version of this one. I don't expect MH4 before the second half of 2014 if we do get it.
If you have any interest in the other 3DS games currently released or upcoming release then yeah get the 3ds version. On the hand if MH3U would be your only game and you have no interest in other 3DS games, don't travel much and/or don't have friends with the game; get yourself the WiiU version for online play.
