Isn't anyone else out there worried about the whole balance down the toilet thing? I for one will never have 1150 dex. I hate that this game is trying to force us all to raise all of the life skills just to make using anything that isn't archery worth using.

I know what you're trying to say, but that kinda change wouldn't affect the formula in anyway. But if we base it on the supposed new formula, then you've got a valid point.
Yeah, like I said, I was just pooping out Generic Formulaâ„¢. I do remember seeing more than multiplication in there, but yeah, I'm just saying that it could have been as simple as something being left out of the parenthesis and not getting multiplied when they wanted it to be.

I just found out that the cap on HP, MP, and Stam to 1.5k... it also apply to the bonus from enchant, titles, and trans too, so... techinally...
Our transformation are being nerfed because we can't go past 1.5k upon transforming into something.

You're know what? You're absolutely right. Maximum damage should be the only statistic in Mabinogi.
I don't even know why they bothered to add all of those average damage, high balance weapons. Perhaps they should lower the balance on the higher damage dexterity weapons to compensate? That would even things out a bit.
The Highlander Long Bow and the Ring Bow ego should have reduced balance, imo. The Bhafelsepaer Hunter should have like zero balance.

I'm okay with balance being hard to get just that number seems a little steep and most players will never get there. It really hurts the players who started alch/magic and then want to go into gunner or fighter since they have no dex to back it up.

But what does it change in terms of weapon choice? Elsinore and Beam Sword still blow dual glads out of the water. Champs still blow hobnail knucks away. What exactly is making it so most players top out at 70% instead of 80% balance supposed to accomplish?
It seems like a fig leaf designed to avoid just massively nerfing melee, range, puppet and fighter damage which would be an instant shitstorm.

Elsinore has the highest 1handed damage but at the cost of 0 balance. Dex will only give 50% at most and sword mastery only gives +15bal. Thus at most you'll have 65% Balance with a sword of Elisnore, IF you even have 1100+ Dex to begin with.
Not sure how that will affect my damage output exactly but I think I'll be out around 45% balance with it if I don't work on ranged/life skills hardcore if they keep it as it is.
My ego on the other hand has 38% balance so I should be around 60% balance with 560dex at the very least?
Might have to beef up w/e stat gives balance to ego's or switch to my HLC and level 6 elemental upgrade that.
EDIT: No wait, even the HLC has really low balance :/
So basically you can either have really high damage and low balance, or medium damage with high balance is basically the tradeoff choices we'll have.

You forget 15% balance from Combat Mastery.
But let's say you get 20 from dex, 30% from masteries, and run Strider? Would you NOT use Elsinore over anything else?

An ideal compromise would be to have strength additionally contribute towards your balance. You could obtain 50% balance through a combination of strength and dexterity, adding up to 1150. The strength statistic has always been lacking.
Strength:
+ Melee Damage
+ Defense
Dexterity:
+ Range Damage
+ Defense Piercing
+ Balance
+ Life Skill Success Rate
Intelligence:
+ Magic Damage
+ Magic Protection
+ Magic Balance
+ Enchant Success Rate
Willpower:
+ Martial Arts Damage
+ Critical
+ Magic Defense

I just calculated it and I think I was overestimating the power of logs...
I would get 41% balance with just my measly 560dex.
Combined with 30% balance from masteries that would give me 71% balance at the very least with sword of elisnore, strider enchant would finish capping that for me.
Fighter wise I'm perfect as my knuckles have 30% balance on my knuckles I think?

It seems we're moving back to the pre-g9 stage in which everyone was debating what weapons to use. Those who were newer used gladius because of its higher balance, while those with high dexterity and level used 222 broadswords.
In a way, the game is going back to that. With a lot of novice and weaker weapons retaining high balance and stronger weapons (such as lances and the Sword of Elsinore) retain lower balance but higher damage.
You can equip anything, but using a weapon you aren't ready for will now penalize in unstable damage.

Well the good thing is that It would appear that I'm at a pretty good position with my current dex level. I just need to use my strider boots that I should have laying around to obtain full balance. But wither that extra 9% balance is worth a sacrifice in better damage giving enchants is another story.
When I heard that you needed 1150dex for the full 50% balance I didn't bother calculating using the formula and that log formula does get you balance quickly at the beginning, it just gradually slows to a crawl as you reach the mid-high dex range.

Oh,it's logarithmic? That's a LOT better.
