Whether they should or shouldn't be able to use them makes no difference. The fact is that they can, which was my point entirely.
It's a valid mechanic, so it should be supported.
Giants should not necessarily get bow/crossbow mastery. It's not that they shouldn't be able to get them, but that they currently can't use any of the associated weapons.
Elves have heavy armor they can use. Giants have light armor they can use. They should both be able to get the masteries.
Just because that's a valid point, doesn't mean it's 'right'. Part of the reason behind elves not having 2h/heavy armors is because they're 'too weak' in the lore to use/wear them. The only reason they get the sword of the gods is because it's a generation weapon. Devcat couldn't really exclude elves of a generation weapon...They were also to lazy to make it look like a decently good 1h weapon for elves while still being a 2h for everyone else like I think they should have. (Well maybe 1h for humans too or the ability to pick when you get it or something.)
I really just think that Giants should get both Light armor, and less if not no penalty with heavy armor, as well as the range skills. Then give elves lances and heavy armor and it's mastery. Just reduce how good it is for them, same as you'd do for the range for giants. There's no reason for these limitations anymore really.
Hell, another option would be have each race with their own types of stat scaling for the new and old stats. I could see that working better than limitations to skills/weapons.

Elves can get Heavy Armor Mastery when Humans can run as fast as Elves.
They'll probably get it anyway...and lances...and iron mace egos...and...

Elves also get mounted range.
I'm very jealous of that. :T_T:

We can give the elves the Heavy Armor mastery.
It comes with a movement penalty though c:

Any details on the mechanics of the new magic skills? Or has nobody found them out yet?

I just read these on another website.
Giants already have a lot of combat advantages already. In fact they practically have no real disadvantages at all. I'm sick and tired of always seeing humans and elves getting the short end of the stick while the giants tons of advantages. So it wouldn't kill giants to actually have a single disadvantage for once =P
balance perfect....THERE IS NO BALANCE!elves just get screwed over, im still wondering y they gave elves lower percentages in fighter when str isn't even part of that talent -.-... if we had at least one talent we were the best at then i wouldn't mind. but we don't -.-, and as stated above since elves dont have much str we wont even have defense comparable to the other races, added to the fact that we didnt have that already since the base defense we get from defense is less than humans and giants already.
It appears that the NA community continues to be ignorant as fuck.

We'll have to wait for DevCat to patch the test server before we can accurately examine those skills.

Ive never cared for heavy armor and favored being mobile over slow or stationary so heavy armor doesnt apply to my elf or human . The alchemy buff is awesome ive been saying for years alch needed stats to stay on par with the rest of the content and magic for all its utility needed something extra in the dmg area .

That's just plain sad. You know, sometimes I really hate how stupid people in the US are...
Elves have a hell of a lot more advantages than giants do and they are the best at ranged which is one of the best skillsets :/
Plus they have the fastest running speed

Wait... If they are removing the advanced crystals like Shock and Raincasting. Wouldn't that mean they'll have to change a lot of the Shadow Mission rewards as well?

It's been mentioned that all crystal rewards will be either fire, ice, water, wind, or clay crystals.
Sometimes you get a captain planet crystal to.

So in other words, more crap? lol they honestly should make the rewards in shadow missions more... Rewarding.

So when this patch goes through, what purpose will dry ovens have other than making useless magic crystals?

Even though it'd probably have be of more convenience, I'd prefer if they didn't take away the need to make alchemy crystals. I don't want them to change alchemy to that degree, I want it to stay the same, but just have higher DPS x.x
