Why not give mages a 5-10% damage reduction for magic skills while wearing heavy armor? It'd make sense since metal is conductive, it could freeze you while wearing it, or roast you alive.

What will they do when their fireball aggros a whole room of monsters?

Do what they do in other games, die or rely on party members for help.

[stuff about double-standards]
You missed the point, and the reason why I said
most RPG's have mages and heavy armor be mutually exclusive, which has nothing to do with how dumb the dex-to-balance ratio being on a logarithmic formula is.

That'd be a pretty reasonable penalty, all things considered,

Mages draw a lot of aggros though, it is one of the main drawback as being a mage. With Heavy Armor Mastery they could tank some hits a bit longer rather than wasting their mana with Mana Shield. Also when they are hit it cancels some of their charges or even all, so why bother nerfing their magic damage when wearing Heavy Armor?
Now that I thank about it, This would make mages great lurers and tankers if they had some heavy armor on.

Considering knuckles, range and puppets do insane amounts of dmg, why not let alch/mage be tanky? even with our subpar dmg we'll at least become useful >3>.....

If I wasn't being clear, I apologize, I wasn't making a single reference to the time investment-to-damage output to mages in this game in specific. To further clarify, I'm fine with mages having Heavy Armor in this game in particular, because there's no particular reason not to let them tank when they're the class that gets aggro'd hardest in contrast to warriors who won't pull too much unless they're being a Leeroy or using Caladbolgs for that purpose.

Magic new master race, people misunderstand the concept of balance yet again.

That'd be implying people care about things like the metagame as a whole, instead of whatever's considered "OP" in the "here and now".

And what is that? Mages and Alchemists taking hits with Mana Shield with clothing and use up our main ammunition for attack, which is mana. While archers/warriors/puppeteers/fighters get to use it without any penality to their own attack?

If the final patch of these updates make magic good again as an offensive skillset, then heavy armor for mages becomes broken just like it is in every other game. In fact, we don't even need to look to other games -
we've already seen mage tanking blow the game wide open.. Now, heavy armor has no stun.
Now, while probably a lot of people today can do what he did, Zyrus was doing it at a time the average total was like, 800, with no AP inflation/reforges/etc like we have now, and endgame was like 400 max. Also WM still took HP.
And what is that? Mages and Alchemists taking hits with Mana Shield with clothing and use up our main ammunition for attack, which is mana. While archers/warriors/puppeteers/fighters get to use it without any penality to their own attack?
Mana Shield is broken in its own right for the very reason you state. Mana Shield for mages is much more resource intensive than for other skillsets, yet other skillsets have no penalties to compensate.

Magic cost a ton of ap and money to pursue for decent damage, give them some armor~

What they're saying is mages should be expected to sacrifice defense for offense, and vice versa.
