  As for the crit, maybe my fomor crossbow won't be just for fun/easy running with AR dungeons anymore.

  Speaking of which, how much def/prot will each level of piercing take off?
  And since we get new values for prot as well as formula, sholdn't there also be a new formula for crit chance?

  Of course not. You're going to want to use those r1 personalized enchant scrolls (just watch. It's gonna happen) with 50% crit chance (but 5% success chance on a Thursday with 200 Int) and 10x repair cost (might wanna invest in some enchant protection potions), or you could deck yourself out in crit reforges.

  And 50% dex penalty is steep, but at least they get the skill.
  Not gonna be archer...ing with heavy armor, though, I guess.

  Giants definitely get the best deal since they don't use range.
  
  Even for puppetry... they only lose 10% dex, and giants at best get like 500~700 dex so that's only like 10~14 marionette max damage lost for all the heavy armor benefits.
  
  Also no damage reduction for fighter skills if you're a giant. Really, no reason for giants to use anything but a Thames set now.

  But oh, I forgot that giants didn't get Stage 3 Chain Attack penalties from using Heavy Armor.
  
  Yeah, heavy armor giant fighter sounds really good now.

  I really hope they didn't get that HUGE of a prot buff. Because I really don't want to have to completely neglect damage enchants and load myself up on nothing but crit enchants just to have a chance at getting a crit. Another huge downside to the prot buff for monsters is that it makes R upgraded weapons pretty useless unless:
  
  - you have ridiculously high crit
  - are using a lance with a high piercing level
  - are using skills that ignore protection when calculating chance to crit
