Well, they read him his Miranda rights, so at least people will hopefully stop bitching about that.
We did talk about the violations of the 4th, 5th, 6th, and possibly 8th amendment in government today, but I still firmly believe that what was done was justified given the grave situation at hand. Again, so much easier to judge afterwards, and if you have no personal connection...or if you Canadians crow about how undemocratic we are.
Hate to break it to you, but as far as government goes and most things legal go, Canada =/= U.S. by a longshot. Therefore, it kind of irks me that y'all talk as if you know what we're all about.

The US is a world leader (unfortunately), so what happens there economically and politically is of everyone's concern. Especially up here in Canada, because our prime minister likes to fellate your president and do as he's told.

Oh. Haha. I thought it was common knowledge the government was an authoritarian piece of shit. I guess nobody wants to say anything about it though, if you do then cops will be on your ass, FBI's going to delete your record and remove every trace of you, and things will be very quiet again. Pigs in a pen.

Then again I agree it's their job, however it depends on the officers who are checking houses. There are some that don't mind tearing and flipping the house upside down, there are some that are cautious of other's property.
However in a serious situation like this, I wouldn't mind house search. As long they don't take my computer apart o3o
If they did this and damaged it I would unleash hell and multi lawsuits martial lawe or not as for search i wouldnt mind

when you consent to a search you pretty much are saying "if you break my shit you're not responsible for it"
you wouldn't stand a chance in court.

I love it how people before the chase were all for finding this guy at all costs and now criticisms are made. The government will always be an unpopular opinion. I'm glad they caught him and I hope they find out why he did it.
Who exactly said that? I am pretty sure none of us was like "finding him at all cost."

Pretty sure that's not possible. (consenting only if they follow your rules) You either consent or you don't, and either way, they'll have no problems messing up everything and leaving you to clean it up.
That's just the law enforcement for you. Politeness and decency aren't in their vocabulary.

When the police searched my house one time they actually made my bed after they were done searching my room.

Good guy Cop -> Makes your bed after they finish doing their search.
My experiences with cops have been all right so far. I haven't gotten into trouble as I don't drive and usually keep to myself.
Only thing that had my house a little messed up was when I mixed bleach + toilet cleaner cause I was a bloody idiot and caused toxic fumes to cover my apartment.

The thing is, if police has the right to search without warrant, you may meet bad cops next time and there is nothing you can do about it. It's nice your experience isn't bad, but you should keep in mind the possibilities.

I'm sorry but I find this disrespectful as fuck.
But I know you don't care and we're both stickin' to our guns, but I just can't sit down and let you say horribly inaccurate generalizations without saying anything. I can't believe you actually assume that all law enforcement agents just want to stick their guns up in your business with no semblance of decency or humanity.
I mean, seriously?

But you don't mind the police home invasion, so really there is no inconsistency with you.

Yeah, because my dad's a cop.
And even if he wasn't, I actually have a modicum of respect for law enforcement/authority figures.
