Not exactly true as the person who actually support the partymates with Bard and such, will give the partymates greater benefits than the ones who uses the Bard without use of instruments.
I was worried about this because of how it may kill the support but... the patch didn't really hurt the support Bard too much so the Bard support are still a viable option.
Aside from not gaining the extra +Music Buff Effect, what would be a negativity for not wielding a instrument/microphone on you? Only thing we're seeing is that one mic allows Party Healing, only thing that promotes the Support Bard, but I personally feel that's not enough to make a full range support bard be unique to just someone who has the skills and just solo things.

Well...
A bard playing a song with an instrument with reforges will always be better than someone singing with those same reforges. Not to mention the instruments can get even more reforges for the skills.
Do Mics give music playing buff...? If not then the only reason they're there are for training singing to 5 and for looks~

Realistically, would you massively reforge a instrument/microphone just to be a beef'd up Support player that backlines, when you could of spend that same amount on another weapon and do more work as is?

A few % less won't matter considering you have an extra full dmg dealer to replace the support.
A singing overture is fine too.

So what do the magic circles created by that one skill actually do?

I'll take the loss of 60 max damage for not having to put up with an instrument.

Well that's you. I for one would still like to have someone in my party who could do buffs like that, if not, then yeah sing all the way. lol
So what's this about overture effecting magic and alch dmg now?

That other person could be providing much more damage. However that 40% overture is from reforges though, so in essence, the only way a pure support bard could exist is with reforges.
What an odd way to spent your money on.

Same could be said about Mabi in general.

Why not get both? That's what I did.

Well i meant like in my case, I will be using puppets and gunner (or alchemy if the new skills are nice). So unless a 3rd slot comes out...
A question to you, remove any buffs that are interchangeable between singing and instrument buffs, I want to see the true difference.

At this point, it seems that only Battlefield is useful in combat situations.
Who would even care about the other ones...
Different buffs need to be able to stack with other types of buffs.
Choosing between the buffs doesn't seem to be hard, especially if battlefield will also affect the damage of magic/alchemy.
If they stacked, it'd just be a nice option of rotating buffs between bouts of fighting.
I mean, as nice as 20%+ max/min and 10%+ crit is, that boosted damage alongside quickened casting/attack speed, movement speed, AND def/prot would be all the sweeter.
Until they stack, the other buffs just... don't seem all that useful, especially in a mixed party.
Were they able to stack, a whole party of different skillsets could be made happier with relevant buffs all around.

The encore circles allow you to stack musical effects. You can lay down a Vivace circle and then play Battlefield Overture and both effects will stack.
However, aside from Battlefield Overture, musical effects are so impossibly fucking terrible that I wouldn't waste my time.
