  Alrighty, then! Sounds good, especially since that's a nice, simple, beginner-friendly style.
  
  While this is discouraged once you know how to draw on your own, when you're just starting out, it's always a good thing to actually just copy some drawings of the style you like.
  
  Here, try this! It's nice and simple. Copy it to the best of your ability, and make sure to pay attention. Try to note down all of the details in your mind, so you can use them in your later drawings. :)

  i'd try to draw on paper or get a tablet since mouse drawing is pretty hard
  also don't try to stick to stick figures

  Hmm, yeah, it's really hard to draw with a mouse. Wouldn't even bother. Could theoretically get good at it but it's always going to be a pain in the ass. If you can't afford a tablet for a thing like this then just use a pencil. Tablets are a bit of an investment.

  I think it's okay to copy a few pieces for your first week of drawing, as long as you don't claim it as your own, don't post it anywhere, and if you do, state specifically that you only used it for practice, and that it is not your own.
  I did that for the first three days or so when I started becoming interested in drawing, and it really helped me get a feel for things.
  I also never took the time to learn how to draw shapes or basic lines, even, but I still was able to improve at a constant, fast pace.
  
  This was drawn during my second week or so of drawing.

  So, with my own experience, I'll go ahead and say that, yes, copying helps a lot for the first week or so to help you get a feel for things, and that it's not all that important to focus on shapes.
  Buuuut, then again, it might be different for some people. Dunno. xD

  You know what, I will try. xD I'll probably fail since I suck at explaining things, and teaching people for that matter. What also makes it a lot harder is his current complete lack of any artistic abilities to work with. (Sorry, Splat. Everyone has things that they're good at, and things that they're just not good at. So, what I'm saying is, you're probably naturally gifted at something else! :D )

  Grab pen+paper like everyone said. Also, you are obviously not even trying, yes I'm being harsh, but that's how this works, art is not easy, and if you want to get better, then buckle up mister.
  
  Grab books (loomis has GREAT books for those starting with no art knowledge at all, http://www.alexhays.com/loomis/ <- fun with a pencil is a beginner book that will get you started with basic shapes).
  
  Finally http://ctrlpaint.com/library/ <- This guy not only provides good learning techniques, but inspiration. Start with videos in "2) Traditional Drawing", since you are not going to be using a tablet.

  Always was taught or... "Guessed" that one side of your brain functions better than the other.
  
  Reminds me of this instance where this mechanic lived through a propeller blade or something that hit his head and shut off one part of the brain, the other side took over and became an artist whose skill rivaled his mechanical skills.

  Its not concerned about copyrights, I'm concerned about calling copied work "practice". Its the same as tracing, and doesn't provide the experience in exploring your own way of drawing line. The example work provided should of had a "step" in getting to completion, he will just be copying a completion without learning the "steps".

  I never took art seriously except when i was younger... however.
  my artistic aspirations went down the drain when i tried to draw realistic portraits of people for art class in kindergarten and got laughed at by the entire class + teacher.
