  From what I've seen, it's just another gathering skill, except in the case that your gathering attempt is unsuccessful, your character gets pushed back a little bit, similar to walking into the borders around Avon.
  
  You'll have to step back up to the crystal to mine it again.
  
  And I guess the ores stay around about as long as they always have.
  Other people will be able to pick them up after a few seconds have passed, like other things normally do.
  
  
  And of course the gathering point can get depleted, in which case you'll have to wait for it to regen before you can mine that particular pile again, similar to Carpentry's wood blocks

  So ya, no where near being an AFK skills. It's a kill you have to actively participate in. Not sure where you thought it was going to be an AFK skill from.

  Will I still get that ui if I only have the guard cylinder equipped? If not, what do I get with something like a wand/guard cylinder combination?
  
  Been searching around and I haven't found a definite answer yet. Hopefully I don't need two cylinders.

  Okay you just need to have both equipped in order to get the skill interface. It doesn't matter what you use to summon the golem, you only get the skill window when you have both cylinders on.

  Should be noted that the Black Mask Staff is nonupgradable and JUST as strong as an Upgraded Hermit Staff. So Hermit Staff would be better if it can be special upgraded or it has gem upgrades that add to magic damage.
  
  Also, Black Mask Staff has alternate animations than regular staves.

  Zinc, Nickel, and Tin were dropping way more often then the Hillwen ores were let's just say. This skill will make, the making of those puppet potions be much easier to do (not that those potions are worthwhile if you have like 1-4 nimbus')

  I heard that you can still use all of the skill crystals after the revamp, just you can't make them anymore. I'm sure magic golem is no acceptation.
