Finally get on to find out there's an incoming maintenance 2 hours later. Oh well, at least I got to play some~
Level 22 so just waiting on the main story to take me to Grand Companies. Chocobo here I come!
Also I did that Ifrit instance today and damn was it horrible. I mean don't get me wrong it wasn't hard or anything but I had invited this tank named Z'attano (we already had a tank but he was only other person there). We fine a lancer and shortly after a Thaumaturge comes in wanting a party. I wanted the THM more then the tank person but I didn't want to be a jerk. I wish I was a jerk.
This kid made us fail 3 times because he wouldn't focus that spike thing Ifrit puts down with us. The first time it was ok, but the second and third were just UGH. By the 4th try he STILL didn't focus it with us, but we kind of wised up to it and pretty much just gave it our all (I stopped focusing on healing since we didn't have a healer) and the tank guy STILL didn't help us. But we made it through that part, he died and became dead weight and we completed it without his help. THAT WAS PAINFUL.
Conjurer here. Dunno what server you're on but it sounds silly that you couldn't find someone else.
I just went in to queue and got matched instantly and everything went smooth first run. Didn't know about the nail thing, but when it spawned it looked pretty ominous so I switched to cleric stance and dps'd it down. Tank was doing fine so I didn't really need to keep healing him.
I'm really enjoying conjurer even though I hate healing. Cleric stance makes me do so much damage. DPS white mage pls.

I mean, I could have definitely went out and gotten someone new like that nice THM that was asking to join. I was doing the healing so we didn't NEED a conjurer. Picked up Cure when I visited Gridania. In our defense though, we didn't think he wouldn't heed our advice on every single try when we told him every single time and he acknowledged us every single time...

Tanking is quite fun in instances.
I like to use the symbols to mark mobs according to attack priority and hopefully everyone gets the message.
Good for adds since everyone concentrates their firepower while I can continue tanking the boss.

Dunno what class you're rolling but if your MIND stat isnt high your healing is gonna suck though.
I've noticed my Cure heals like 50% more when I turn off Cleric Stance.

Oh man, my first dungeon was so great because we had a tank that knew what he was doing. He was marking all the mobs and stuff. Also we had a Pugilist named Lee Sin.
@Kitae: I was healing like 90s-120s and I've only been putting points into Intelligence. Lalafell Dunewalker.

Well, after the failure of 1.0, they really deserve this kind of a comeback.
Must be quite the landmark in Yoshida's career.

Sorry for the double post but character creation on Ultros is possible again.
Currently, we have stopped allowing the creation of new characters in the following Worlds:
Bahamut
Balmung
Chocobo
Diabolos
Excalibur
Faerie
Gilgamesh
Hyperion
Ifrit
Lamia
Leviathan
Mandragora
Masamune
Phoenix
Ragnarok
Sargatanas
Siren
Tonberry
In the event of any changes in the situation, follow-up news posts will be posted here as well.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Edit: Whether you can actually log into the server however, is another story.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is getting more and more popular despite the server problems and the suspension of digital sales due to excessive traffic, and Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida (that I recently interviewed at Gamescom) provided some new data for our perusal.
Just yesterday we learned that the game had broken the record for concurrent connections (users online at the same time) for an online game operated by a Japanese company with 187,000 users online at the same time, and today’s numbers are even higher.
According to Yoshida-san the traffic peak touched 218,000 users connected at the same time, showing that the popularity of the game is continuing to grow despite the problems caused by server congestion.
The development team is keeping up the good work on improving the situation, and for now is focusing on solving the problems at the root with enhancements to the server structure and the implementation of new servers instead of resorting to placebo solutions like an automatic kick for inactive players (that the team is considering for future implementation, but isn’t a priority now).
The implementation and optimization of the server is almost done, with the software installed on the machines and testing underway. The measures taken by the development team are expected to increase the capacity of both the Japanese and the North American/European datacenters significantly, smoothing out the login and performance issues. In addition to that, they will also increase visibly the performance of the content finder and of party matching.
Work is scheduled to be completed during the week end and we’ll see its effects at the beginning of next week, with further communication coming to announce exact dates.
It’s definitely worth mentionning that Yoshida-san also promised that in order to make it up to the players affected by the problems caused by server congestion, everyone will receive an extension to the free period after the issues will be solved.
Broken records, better performance and free gameplay, what’s not to love?
Update: I replaced the link to Yoshida-san’s message in Japanese with the one in English just posted on the official forums, and changed the wording of a few details to reflect the official translation.
The only big modern MMO that gave extension to free periods is EVE
