blacksmithing, synthesis, engineering, and all the other life skills out there aren't enough? D:
There are many "different life skills", but they're moreso all the same generic gatheirng skill or same generic production skill. Sure, once in a while there is a twist, like Carpentry being both production and gathering, and Synthesis being more annoying to train and random. . . But they're pretty much the same.
I'm going to categorize the life skills.
Gathering Skills:
Herbalism
Metallurgy
Rare Mineralogy
Shyllien Ecology
Sheep Shearing
Mining
Egg Gathering
Milking
Harvesting
Hoeing
Mushroom Gathering
Production Skills:
Tailoring
Weaving
Handicraft
Refining
Blacksmithing
Potion Making
Hillwen Engineering
Magic Craft
Synthesis
Metal Conversion
Book Skills:
Campfire
First Aid
Rest
Meditation
Mastery Skills:
Production Mastery
Wine Making (Is part book skill)
Commerce Mastery
Transmutation
Special Cases:
Carpentry (Gathering and Production)
Fragmentation (Technically production, moreso the opposite of production)
Truly Unique Skills:
Cooking (Is part book skill)
Fishing
Taming Wild Animals
Enchanting
Playing Instrument and Singing (if they still count as life)
Not included:
Transformation Mastery (Moreso a combat-type mastery skill if anything)
Mana Crystallization (A combat alchemy skill, it's only production in the sense that it increases success rate of making mana crystals, which all alchemy skills pretty much do pre-zero)
Conclusion:
Well look at that, 12 gathering skills, 12 production skills, and four masteries. Only 5/6 truly unique life skills, and that's what we need more of. Not more generic gathering/production skills. Also, in my opinion, we need more book skills. Not necessarily 1 book 100% book like some of the moreso known book skills, but skills like Wine Making that only use books every few ranks, or cooking that uses books every rank but only for 50% training.
